Self Evaluation

I believe I did well in interviewing candidates for the positions we had open. The

experience was great, and being involved helped me realize how important it is for the school.

Standard 3 better aligns with my internship involvement in interviewing teachers. Standard 3.0

states "building-level education leader applies knowledge that promotes the success of every student by

ensuring the management of the school organization, operation, and resources through monitoring and

evaluating the school management and operational systems; efficiently using human, fiscal, and

technological resources in a school environment; promoting and protecting the welfare and safety of

school students and staff; developing school capacity for distributed leadership; and ensuring that

teacher and organizational time is focused on supporting high-quality instruction and student

learning" (Master of Education in Educational Administration, 2019, pg. 46). I enjoyed

participating in the evaluation of the school management because I had a voice in who I thought

would be the right candidate for the position available.

In my hours working at the campus, I think I did not do so well with standard 6. I did not

participate much in broader political, social-economic, or legal to advocate for students. Standard

6.0 states "A building-level education leader applies knowledge that promotes the success of

every student by understanding, responding to, and influencing the larger political, social,

economic, legal, and cultural context through advocating for school students, families, and

caregivers; acting to influence local, district, state, and national decisions affecting student

learning in a school environment; and anticipating and assessing emerging trends and initiatives

to adopt school-based leadership strategies" (Master of Education in Educational Administration,

2019, pg. 58). I need to be more involved to understand fully how to run the school.

I will start by attending board meetings in the future. Being involved in the district is

important and meeting all the community members that are involved. The community is always

attending the board meetings, and it would help me be more involved with them, so they can see
I'm interested in being a part of their community. The board members are also key stakeholders

that I need to be familiar with and, hopefully, one day have their support as a leader. It has also

been challenging to be involved in many community gatherings due to the pandemic, and I'm

hoping it ends soon so that I can be more active.
