After our first meeting and discussions in our chat group, my group members and I have
proposed several ideas for our upcoming Engineering Team Project. The ideas that I have
proposed are mostly related to harvesting renewable energy to improve lives around us because
this has always been my field of interest. For the most part, that is also what fuelled my interest
different perspectives. Most importantly, it was a positive affirmation to the direction of where
we are heading as a team. This is perhaps the most valuable lesson that we can learn outside of
our other courses which is beneficial to us especially when we enter the society as the nation’s
workforce. Besides, it also highlights the significance of having well-rounded knowledge in
various fields for everyone of us so that we could give insights for this project. Lastly, this
project has also led me to believe that my true interest in my future career and research studies
which is environment sustainability.
For the upcoming meetings, I want to make sure that I have done enough research and
preparation so that I could present and make good points in our team meetings. In this case, it
would be about the suitable chemical treatment processes or addition of other organic wastes to
further improve the absorption capacity of our coconut fibre oil sorbent. This is to prevent
incidents from the first meeting from occurring again. Moreover, I would also like to get every
member in the group to be more engaged so that we could refine our project to the fullest of its
potential. Besides my main field which is the chemistry for the project, I will also look into other
vital aspects of the product such as the design and discuss it with my fellow teammate from
Mechanical Engineering. If the same situation such as the first meeting arises again whether is it
due to me or others, I would call for a group meeting as soon as possible to discuss about the
difficulties faced. We can then look for a solution together by doing research or lay out our
concerns towards the idea itself. Moreover, I would also suggest that we make consult lecturers
whom are experienced and can lend us a hand in solving our problems in the process of
completing the project.
