1. Who is Santiago Alvarez? How come his writing is a primary source?

-Gen. Santiago Alavarez born on July 25, 1972, he is also known as ‘Kidlat ng Apoy” or General
Apoy because of his inflamed bravery and dedication as commander of Cavities famous battle. He
was a Magdiwang man and the Commander-in-Chief of the said faction. Santiago Alvarez focus
and further explain what happened in the said election made by two factions- Magdiwang and
Magdalo in Tejeros convention. It is detailed and mentioned the delagations of the person
involved that only happens the day of the election.
-In my opinion, the writings of Santiago Alvarez which is the Memoir of the General is the
primary source because he was an eye-witnessed, he personally experienced the event.

2. Who is Teodoro Agoncillo? How come his writing is a secondary source?

-Teodoro Agoncillo is a prominent Filipino historian. He was among the first Filipino historians
who earned renown for promoting a distinctly nationalist point of view of Filipino History. His
book, The Revolt of the Masses: The Story of Bonifacio and the Katipunan, is one of the most
influential books in Philippine history.
- In my opinion, Agoncillo’s writing is the secondary source because he just a historian.
Comparing to General Alvarez whose work has focus on election day, Mr. Agoncillo was not
there when the event was happening. However, his works helps people to know what was
happening before the election and he have a documents to give proofs on it.
