NAME: BERNARDINO, Erika Ortega – SAQ6.4.2 – 5026 – 21JULY2020

How does the future world you envision differ from the realities of today, discuss at least 3 comparisons [as listed in SAQ
6.4.1]

1. Today, 57 million children are failing to learn, simply because they cannot attend school. However, access only part of the
educational crisis – a lack of quality education is holding back many children too. The crisis in the quality of learning is
evident. Across the world, 200 million young people leave school without the skills they need to thrive, plus an estimated 775
million adults – 64 percent of whom are women – who lack the most basic reading and writing skills.
2. Every year, 3.1 million children (8,500 children per day) die due to poor nutrition. Today, there are 815 million people in the
world who do not have enough to eat. Approximately 28% of all children in developing countries are considered to be
underweight, or have had their growth stunted as a result of malnutrition. Worldwide, malnutrition contributes to almost half
of the deaths of kids under the age of 5, claiming the lives of over 3 million children per year.
3. Every year, environmental risks – such as indoor and outdoor air pollution, second-hand smoke, unsafe water, lack of
sanitation, and inadequate hygiene – take the lives of 1.7 million children under 5 years, say two new WHO reports.
