Daily Lesson Log for Grade 10 Mathematics Date: Aug. 29, 2018 (Day 2)

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner is able to demonstrate understanding of key concepts of
polynomials and polynomial equations.
B. Performance Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sequences,
polynomials and polynomial equations.
C. Learning Competencies The learners will be able to sketch the graph of polynomial functions using
the intercepts, some points and the position of the curves determined from the
table of signs and multiplicity of zeros.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing yesterday’s lesson / Drill Recall the x and y – intercepts of a polynomial functions and table of values.
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson/ (continuation)…
presenting the new lesson
C. Presenting examples/ instances of the ( Discuss example in page 109-110 of the Learner’s module)
new lesson b. answer no. 1 of activity 5 in page 110
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing Make a table of values in example b.
new skills # 1 (Leads to Formative ( Discuss example in page 111-112 of the Learner’s module)
Assessment # 1) Sketch the graph of polynomial functions .
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing . Investigate and analyze the properties of the graphs of polynomial function
new skills # 2 (Leads to Formative like
Assessment # 2) a. end behaviors,
optional b. behaviors relative to x-axis c. number of turning points
F. Developing Mastery (Leads to formative Let the students do numbers 2 – 5, activity no.5 of page 110 in LM. by group.
Assessment # 3)
Fixing skills Determine the intercepts of the graphs of the following polynomial functions.
2. y = (x – 2)(x – 1)(x + 3)
3. y = 2x4 + 8x3 + 4x2 – 8x – 6
4. y = -x4 + 16
5. y = x5 + 10x3 – 9x
G. Finding practical applications of Ask the students to make their own realization of the topics and how it relates
concepts and skills in daily living to the real life.
( The ups /down and the limitation of a person at a certain stage of life)
H. Making Generalizations and abstractions Let the student make a summary of the lesson such as identifying polynomial
about the lesson function, intercepts and etc.
I. Evaluating Learning For the given function y = (2x + 3)(x – 1)(x – 4), give
(a) the x-intercepts
(b) the intervals obtained when the x-intercepts are used to partition to the
number line
(c) the table of signs
(d) a sketch of the graph

J. Additional Activities for application or Let the group of students discuss their output.
