Recommendation Letter

A quick glance at when a toddler, I can recall coming across news articles, detailing

health practitioners' roles in society. Perhaps, that is where I got the exposure had a direct impact

on shaping my medicine interest. Since then, I have had an ever-ending yearn to join nurse

practitioners in treating patients. Nevertheless, I had several reasons that deterred me from

pursuing medicine. First, I wondered how nurses and physicians felt when patients failed to

recover or when the recovery process was sluggish. However, my interest in medicine was

sparked at age eight, when I developed a life-threatening medical condition that required subtle

attention from a healthcare expert. My parents hoped to make my health condition bearable and

assigned me a nurse whose comfort, encouragement and support shaped my interest in the

physician career. I was surprised by the nurse’s unwavering dedication, which raised my

curiosity in medicine to pursue a similar path and offer the same emotional support to patients.

In high school, I realized that I had compelling personal characteristics, empathy, and a

resilient commitment to helping others. I continued to experiment with nursing narrative in my

community through mentoring, where I developed meaningful relationships with individuals of

all ages. I was fortunate to participate in care team meetings, discussion forums, and debates,

where I was exposed to ways of becoming compassionate with the sick. The real-life experience

came up during my final high school year, where I applied my characteristics of passion and

altruism to help an uncle overcome alcoholism. I felt truly fortunate to help him overcome the

addiction, and I consider such small personal victories life-changing since they intensified my

perspective about medicine and particularly nursing.

I have come to understand that I have some unique qualities that make me fit my nursing

career. I now comprehend that to be an exceptional nurse, one must possess some traits such as
empathy, dedication, curiosity, and critical thinking skills. These are skills I strived to develop

throughout my high school as an aspiring nurse practitioner. My passion for helping others

emanates from my curiosity and love in medicine. For instance, my experiences with the sick

have sparked my desire to care for people around me. The experiences have further taught me

other elements that fuel my curiosity in medicine, including problem-solving skills.

I consider myself lucky to have some strengths that can enhance a successful career as a

nurse. I have an exceptional academic prowess, evident from the straight ‘As’ I have got since

high school. First, I have outstanding interpersonal skills that I believe will enable me to

communicate well with all team members. My oral communication is remarkable, and I believe I

will hold a polite conversation with patients. Second, I have unresolved positivity and energy,

which will deliver a positive working relationship with colleagues. Third, I have remarkable

cultural competency, which I trust will be implausible in enhancing polite gestures with

colleagues and clients. These perspectives, coupled with my lifelong knowledgeableness in

medical narratives, leave no doubt that I will provide honestly, trusted, and professional services

in my duty as a holistic physician, hence positively impacting people's lives.

Furthermore, the current pandemic has overwhelmed health care practitioners, more so

nurses. It is because there are numerous new cases of COVID-19 diagnosis and admissions

reported daily across the globe. Thus, the nurse-patient ratio is significantly becoming

inadequate; therefore, nurses require a backup team to support them during many emergencies.

Additionally, every day we hear that numerous patients die from the current pandemic.

Therefore, I desire to join the health care team and save the lives of multiple patients. I perceive

the nursing profession as a challenging profession. As such, I am challenged to join the team and

employ my knowledge to help in improving patients’ outcomes and further enhancing

comfortability. Noteworthy, as I worked in a restaurant over the years, I have gained social

skills. I believe I possess the skills needed to serve in the nursing profession. Thus, given a

chance to enroll in the nursing school will not only help me fulfill my passion and desire over the

years but also help me use my capabilities in assisting numerous patients to seek services in the

hospital. I believe I am better positioned to assist patients in leading a comfortable life free of

pain and suffering, among other discomforts. Therefore, by far, my caring nature, when attending

different clients as I worked in the restaurant, has enabled me to be compassionate.

Consequently, I am ready to serve many clients in the nursing profession and avail quality care

to diverse patients.

Ultimately, I believe that my traits have a significant impact on influencing my career as

a nurse. My desire to become a top-rated healthcare provider is not misguided by my ambitions

but on my interests. I have already developed empathy, compassion, positive oral

communication, and critical thinking skills that I believe shapes a physician’s experiences. I have

also broadened my understanding of medicine narrative. My purpose for joining the medical

school still holds: to become an industry-rated physician and help diagnose, treat illnesses, and

provide nursing care to individuals using the nursing process.
