Session Plan -- Std : __2__ Subject : Describing__

Name of the unit : Session : 1 Date : 11/6/10 Day : Friday

Materials Required : Toy animals, pencil, pencil box etc,chalk board,rough book
Duration Instructional Objective : Given the toy animals/objects the learners will be
able to describe it in atleast 5 sentences with 75% accuracy at the first attempt.

I : The teacher will sing the rhyme 'Chubby cheeks' and discuss the describing
and naming
words from the rhyme.

N : To develop the skill of identification and description of objects .

O: The learners will be able to describe and write sentences for the given toy
animal or object .

Content Presentation Method (Teacher Driven) : The teacher will take a toy
animal or an object e.g. pencil . She will ask the learners to speak about that
animal or object i.e. describe the object. The teacher will write those sentences
on the board . Later the teacher will help the learners to add more of describing
_30_mins words to those sentences.

Interactive Act: The students will be divided in 5 groups . Each group will be
given an object or a toy animal .The students in groups will discuss and write
five sentences using describing words in their rough books about the given
objects and present group wise.

Effective Ending : The learners will give few describing words for a bajot.

Name of the unit : Session : 2 Date :14/6/10 Day : Monday
Materials Required : pencil boxes,toy elephants,books, pencils,bangles , rough book,
chalk board
Duration Instructional Objective : Given the two objects of the same type (two
bangles,two pencils,two balls e t c) the learners will be able to write the
similarities and differences for the two objects and write atleast 5 sentences
___45_min using describing words with 75% accuracy at the first attempt.

I : The teacher will display few objects of same type on the shelf and then she
will describe one of the object in 2 or 3 sentences .She will ask the children to
identify and name that object.

N : To develop the skill of identification and description of objects of same


type.

write sentences for the animals or objects .

Content Presentation Method (Teacher Driven) : The teacher will display


two objects of the same type for e.g. a water bottle on the shelf. She will
discuss the differences and the similarities using describing words for the
30_mins objects e.g. the teacher may say :bottle1 is a huge bottle, bottle 2 is a small
bottle. She will make their understanding clear by stating that identification of a
noun can be made more clearer by using more of describing words.

Interactive act: The class will be into 5 groups . Each group will be given
2pencil boxes,2, elephants,2books, 2pencils, 2 bangles. The learners will
discuss in groups and they will describe the similarities and differences and
write sentences for the animals or objects in their rough books and present it.

Effective Ending : Riddle : The teacher will ask a riddle to which the learners
will identify that noun eg . I am an object, used in your class, green in colour,

Materials Required :

Duration Instructional Objective : The learners will be able to write appropriate describing
words related to the appearance of the two pictures given with 75% accuracy at the

N : The learners will be able to use appropriate and different describing words for
different person's appearance.

vocabulary related to them.

Content Presentation Method (Teacher Driven) : The teacher will keep a


picture of a fairy/an old woman on the board. She will discuss about the appearance
of both the characters. She will discuss about the colour/ shape of eyes,
30_mins texture/colour of hair , shape of the nose, type of cheeks, colour/size of lips, height,
etc. She will write all the related vocabulary given by the learners on the rim sheet.
For eg; eyes- round/oval/pointed, hair-curly/straight/rough/golden/wavy/long/short,
cheeks-chubby/flat/dimple, nose-pointed/round/flat/broad, lips-pink/dark/thin/thick,
height-tall/short. Later, she will lay stress to make the learners clear about using
different and more vocabulary for describing a person's appearance.

Interactive act: The class will be divided into 5 groups. Each group will be given 2
pictures.
Group 1- Snow white/ witch
Group 2- Fat lady/ thin lady
Group 3- young man/old man
Group 4- boy/girl
Group 5- Baby/old man
Each group will discuss and write about the appearance of both the given pictures
in their rough books and present it.

Effective Ending : The teacher will ask the learners to give describing words for
their class teacher.

Session Plan -- Std : 2 Subject : Describing Words:Describing persons appearance
Name of the unit : Session : _4_ Date : 16/06/10_Day :Wednesday
Materials Required : chit with describing words, chalkboard, rough book
Duration Instructional Objective: The learners will be able to name the place and write
three sentences using the given describing words with 80% of accuracy at the first
__45_mins attempt.
I : The teacher will talk and discuss about the weather and environment and list
few describing words on the board related to it.eg. hot, suffocating

N : Describing words are helpful to get specific details about environment of


classroom , climate, atmosphere .

R : 1) The teacher will start the discussion related to atmosphere . She will also

discuss, compare different scenes / seasons.
2) List describing words on the board
3) Facilitate and guide for group activity.

O:The learners will be able describe different scenes/places/atmosphere using


describing words.
Content Presentation Method (Teacher Driven) : The teacher will first start the
discussion about the weather / atmosphere of the class . ( Oh! It is so hot........) and
write describing words on the board . Next she will show two different pictures on
_30 mins the computer screen or pictures to be drawn on the board ( e.g a beach/ a garden or
a city/ a village). Discuss the pictures in detail with similarity and differences. She
will take describing words from the students for the two pictures and list them on
the board.

Interactive : Learners will be divided into six groups. Each group will be given a
set of describing words related to a place. Learners will try to name the place /
scene through these words and use them in sentences.
Group 1: The words are noisy, dirty, polluted, crowded.
Group 2: Green, peaceful, fresh, calm, airy.
Group 3: Sandy, dry, hot, lonely.
(two other groups will get same topic as 1 and 2.)
Later present it groupwise.
Effective Ending : Teacher will end the session by asking riddles eg. people use

Name of the unit : Session : 5 Date : 17/6/10 Day : Thursday

Materials Required : chalk board, rough note books, and things related to the skit( the setup for the skit
will be done by the teachers unit wise eg table , chair, pencil etc. )
Duration Instructional Objective : The learners will be able to write nouns from the given
alphabets with 80% accuracy at the first attempt.

N : Every person , place, thing, animal has a name. These are known as naming
words or nouns.

O: The learners will be able to write nouns from the given alphabets.
Content Presentation Method (Teacher Driven) : The teacher will discuss about the
skit and lead the discussion for thorough explanation of nouns. (Names of persons,
place, animal/birds,things are nouns).She will also guide for the interactive activity

Interactive Act: Playing the game of Name of Person,Place,Amimal,Thing


The class will be divided in 7 groups.
In each group each child will get turn once, to say the alphabets and to say start
and stop. In this manner the alphabet at which the child in the group stops , the
whole group will write the four nouns respectively.
Effective Ending : Teacher will ask a student to speak a noun eg cat. The second
child will speak anoun starting with t eg telephone, the third child will speak a noun

Duration Instructional Objective : The learners will be able to distinguish between common and proper
nouns with the given chits with 90% accuracy at the first attempt.

I : The teacher will start the session by asking few riddles to the students:
I am an animal, I have a pouch, I can hop very fast.... Who am I?( kangaroo)
I am a place famous for my beauty, I am made up of white marble and built in Agra by
Shajahan. Who am I? ( Taj Mahal)
I am a person-- I love children, I wear red rose on my coat and my birthday is celebrated as
children's day. ( Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru)
I am a thing, spherical in shape, I come in different colours, children enjoy when they play with
me. (ball )

N : Each person, place, thing, animal or bird has a name. Names are called naming words. Special
names are proper nouns.

R : Teacher will discuss the riddles and lead the discussion towards explanation that every
person, place, thing, animal/bird has a name. Next she will help the learners to sit in a circle
and guide them to divide into two groups by observing the chits.(Learners will divide into
proper and common nouns groups.) The teacher will ask them how did they make two groups
and explain about proper nouns that they are special names and are written with first letter
uppercase, she will give more such examples on board.Eg soap is a common noun but
Cinthol ,Lux are proper nouns, etc........
O:.The learners will be able make groups for common and proper nouns.
Content Presentation Method (Teacher Driven) : The teacher will first distribute chits with
nouns to the learners in the class.She will instruct the learners to divide themselves into two
groups as per their understanding by reading the nouns from the chits.. ( The teacher may
give hints/ clues if required as they will be divided in to two groups of common and proper
_____mins nouns ) Hint for teachers : The chits will be having first letter uppercase words(propernouns)
and words with first letter lower case common nouns
.Interactive : Learners will sit in a circle and display the chits in such a way that each child
can see the other students chit. The students will discuss with each other and divide
themselves into 2 groups as per their understanding.( They will divide into 2 groups in proper
nouns and common nouns.)
Effective Ending :Teasher will end the session by asking Proper names for the common
___mins names give. Eg city----- Mumbai and so on......

Homework : Give homework for appearance of mother drawn and written in ___ note books.
