Advantage™ Series Model “WS”™ Wireline Set

Single String Retrievable Packer

DESCRIPTION/APPLICATION:
The “WS” Packer is a new wireline set retrievable high performance retainer production
packer. It is a seal bore packer with an integral anchor mandrel connected via the left-hand
square thread in the top of the bore. By installing a blanking plug into a “L-10”™ seal nipple,
and running above the packer, it is able to be run as a temporary bridge plug so that remedial
and stimulation work can be done above the packer. After the remedial or stimulation work
is completed, a standard “L-10” washover shoe can be installed over the seal nipple, and
the plug removed with conventional wireline methods. The packer is later retrieved by right-
hand rotation of the tubing followed by a straight pull shear release.
A “WS” can be converted to a “WSB” packer by changing the setting sleeve, bottom sub
and removing the integral mandrel. A “WSB” packer is a standard wireline set retrievable
seal bore packer. This interchangeability should offer a new level of field application
flexibility while reducing inventory requirements.
The size designation on all the new generation packers includes two numbers. The first
number indicates the OD, and the second number denotes the ID. For example, a 591-237
is a 5.91" (150,1 mm) OD with a 2-7/8" (73,0 mm) API tubing compatible ID.
