    Composition and Compounds

    Small quantity fluctuations in proportioning of components in raw mix result in large


    fluctuations in the potential phase composition of clinker including % of C3S and C2S
    A variation of 1% in CaO causes a variation of 10-14 % in C3S
    A fluctuation of 1 % in C3S would increase or decrease CaO by 1/14 or 0.07 %
    and in Ca CO3 in raw mix by 1.5 × 0.07 = 0.105 %
    It is important to remember these as C3S and C2S contents affect quality of clinker
    and its grindability.
