Size
● Total Area 1,104,300 sq km
● Slightly less than twice the size of Texas.

Climate
● Tropical monsoon with wide topographic-induced variation.

Econonomy
● poverty-stricken economy based on agriculture
● Agriculture accounts for 85% of total employment.
● Coffee is critical to the Ethiopian economy with exports of
some $350 million in 2006
● GDP - per capita: 1,000 US dollars

Wildlife
● Ethiopia has 31 endemic species
● Wildlife populations have been rapidly declining owing to
logging, civil wars, hunting, pollution, poaching and other
human contact.
● Ethiopia has a large number of species listed as critically
endangered, endangered and vulnerable to global extinction.
