GLOBALIZATION
“New communication and information technologies would spawn novel possibilities for
dramatically extending the scope of virtual reality. Distant sites of the most ancient cultures are
shown on film as if they stood this very moment amidst today’s street traffic. The peak of this
abolition of every possibility of remoteness is reached by television, which will soon pervade
and dominate the whole machinery of communication.” - Heidegger 1950
FEATURES OF GLOBALIZATION
1. Liberalization:
It stands for the freedom of the entrepreneurs to establish any industry or trade or business
venture, within their own countries or abroad.
2. Free trade:
It stands for free flow of trade relations among all the nations. Each state grants MFN (most
favored nation) status to other states and keeps its business and trade away from excessive and
hard regulatory and protective regimes.
5. Privatization:
Keeping the state away from ownership of means of production and distribution and letting the
free flow of industrial, trade and economic activity across borders.
6. Increased Collaborations:
Encouraging the process of collaborations among the entrepreneurs with a view to secure rapid
modernization, development and technological advancement.
7. Economic Reforms:
Encouraging fiscal and financial reforms with a view to give strength to free world trade, free
enterprise, and market forces.
8. Several dimensions of Globalization:
Increased and Active Social, Economic and Cultural Linkages among the people. Globalization
has social, economic, political cultural and technological dimensions. It involves all round inter-
linkages among all the people of the world.
• Science and technology - Includes the Internet and other computer components as well as
GPS, genetically modified food, etc.
• Increasing integration and interdependence - Includes all areas of economic life as well
as an increasing exchange of products and services across national borders through trade
• Governance - How national and international laws govern the economic activity and
transnational institutions.
