SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE
NEW VILLAGE ART FEB. 02-MAR. 17
In full collaboration with the director we reimagined the now classic Smokey
Joe’s Cafe into a modern 2019 production. Using 1950’s and 1960’s iconic
styles like the bomber jacket, cuffed “greaser” jeans, and couture dress de-
signs so the show has a sense of nostalgia while maintaining a modern flair.
Our director wanted a modern and fun production with plenty of modern
fashion. While utilizing my sewing skills I transformed sourced and thrift
store pieces into designer clothing like a Gucci sweater and jeans, a ‘designer’
sequin blazer, and a waxed jean jacket. All to make the cast look their best
and keeping them in a modern 2019 style.
