AAMFT-CA Orange County Networking District Presents:

WORKING WITH
MUSLIM POPULATIONS
About The Presenter: The American Muslim population is growing in the United States, and
unfortunately, so are the negative stereotypes presented in the media.
As the need for mental health providers for this community increases,
the shortage in culturally competent providers becomes more appar-
ent. This fascinating workshop will invite you into the lives, faith, and
culture of everyday American Muslims, and will help you to better un-
derstand the issues for which American Muslims may seek therapy.
You will be challenged to examine your own thoughts, perceptions,
and comfort level in working with this often misunderstood popula-
tion, and will learn how to serve this population in a more culturally
sensitive way.
