Highlights!!
• The world’s 15 largest ships generate more harmful sulphur dioxide
than 760 million cars a year.

• New Year’s celebrations: On January 1 in Germany alone, around 4,000

tons of particulate matter are shot into the air – equivalent to some
15 percent of the fine particle volume emitted each year in road
traffic.

• Emissions from just one hour’s open fire correspond to those from a
100-kilometre car drive.

Exhaust Specifications

Advantages to shift to BSVI…
• NOx emission will come down by approximately 25% for the petrol engine and 68% for
the diesel engines.

• The PM emission will see a substantial decrease of 80% in diesel engines.

• OBD will become mandatory for every vehicle and it will help monitor the pollution
caused by the vehicle in real time.

• RDE (Real Driving Emission) will be introduced for the first time that will measure the
emission in real-world conditions and not just under test conditions.

• PM will now be measured by number standard instead of mass standard thereby,

regulating the fine particulate matter as well.

Move from BS4 to BS6 : Petrol
1. Higher Injection Pressure , approx. 300 Bar

2. Precise Ignition & Injection(multiple) timing

3. Engine construction & design

4. Larger Catalytic Converter

5. Petrol Particulate Filter* - for engines bigger than 3.0Ltr

(Not being used for VW & Skoda engines in India)

Move from BS4 to BS6 : Diesel

*Diesel Engines bigger than 2.0 L always need SCR (Selective catalytic Reduction) with AdBlue Fluid sprayed to exhaust gases before being released
to atmosphere! – This is over and above the DPF.
