INTELLIGENCE

The article entitled “Artificial Intelligence for Computer Games” by Abdennour Ell
Rhalibi, Kok Wai Wong and Mark Price and was published last 2009, focuses on how it covers
the behavior and decision-making process of game-playing opponents also known as a non-
player character or NPC. The article that was being addressed is related to the reality whether
artificial intelligence technology to the world of gaming can be a good step to attract more
people towards gaming.

Aside from being implemented of artificial intelligence as an application in a world of

gaming it may produce the illusionary effect of intelligence augmentation in order to give the
player a good game play experience. Game development is still in its infancy. But recently there
has been a steady growth and somewhat of a revolution in styles in the field of computer and
video games and that was when artificial intelligence was being implemented. This article
discussed and described the role of artificial intelligence in different genres of games and such as
action, adventure, role playing, and strategy games and I guessed that it turns it into the basis of a
true artificial intelligence automata. It is fairly clear as explained from this special issue that they
introduce a number of interesting papers contributing to a wide range of these topics and
reflecting the current state of Artificial Intelligence for computer game in academia. However,
there is a conflict in a way that the moment of the extreme diversity of decision situations that
computer game users or even the NPC or non-player character encounter over specific gameplay
and the existence of a multitude of games with different contexts, goals and possibilities as well
as these games mostly are online, that is, they are played on servers.

With such issue at hand, many people argue whether artificial intelligence is something
which is simply mimicked – in other words, the computer is giving the impression of intelligence
and thought, therefore if the computer’s characters and responses are variable, appropriate and as
meaningful as though another player or even the non-player was playing against who, then the
computer is doing a good job of mimicking intelligence.

While all of these are explained as part of the study or article, it was still admitted by the
author that artificial intelligence was being implemented to use to the development of computer
games to serve more effective education instead of generating negative external aspects, negative
social and alienation. (https://www.google.com/search?q=artificial+intelligence+for+computer+game).
