Principles Explanation
COGNITIVE AND METACOGNITIVE FACTORS
 Nature of the learning process  A learner will learn best if he/she has the
initiative and perseverance to learn. Also, if the
learner does not rely on the teacher's spoon-
feeding and will deliberately search for more
information from various sources then
successful learning will be achieved.
 Strategic Thinking  Learners learn better in some ways while
others don't. Some may learn better with
visuals, some may learn better when they can
hear it, some may learn better when they are
actually performing it. Educators must help the
learners to know how can they maximize their
potential through formulating learning
strategies that suits them.
MOTIVATIONAL AND AFFECTIVE FACTORS
 Motivational and emotional influences on  Constant encouragement and patience is the
learning key for a student to be a successful learner. A
healthy environment would be a great help too
in order to boost their confidence as well as
their competence. Never ridicule a student.
And don't ever compare a student to another.
Also, words of appreciation for their hard work
can make the learner strive harder.
 Effects of motivation on effort  The willingness must come naturally from the
learner. The learner must not be forced or
threatened in any form for this will only result
to chaos. Instead, the educator must activate
the learner's curiosity and interest for them to
be motivated to learn.
DEVELOPMENTAL AND SOCIAL FACTORS
 Developmental influences on learning  A strong foundation of an individual has huge
effect on the learner. The educator must not
limit the learner's capabilities to one aspect
only. The educator must allow the students to
explore and develop and enhance other skills
and talents as well.
 Social influences on learning  An educator must establish a good rapport
with the learners as it will be beneficial for
both parties. And having friends with the same
level of enthusiasm towards studying will be a
great help in order to achieve an environment
needed for learners to be studious.
INDIVIDUAL FACTORS INFLUENCING LEARNERS AND
LEARNING
 Individual differences in learning  Each student is uniquely different in one way or
another. Therefore, the educator must
formulate and conduct learning strategies and
approach that are appropriate and suited for
each individual capabilities and differences. In
some cases, compromising may be done.
 Learning and diversity  Learning must be inclusive.
