Solve the sums.
1. A Vegetable seller had 152 potatoes and 126 onions. How many
vegetables did he have altogether?
Solution:
H T O

Number of potatoes = 1 5 2

Number of onions = 1 2 6 (+)

Total = 2 7 8

Therefore, the seller had 278 vegetables in all.

2. Papul had bought a story book for 123 and toy for 75. How
much money did he spent altogether?
Solution:
H T O

Cost of a story book = 1 2 3

Cost of a toy = 7 5 (+)

Total = 1 9 8

Therefore, Papul spent rupees 198 altogether.
