Laboratory tests were conducted on soil and rock samples collected from two bore holes. The tests measured wet density, water absorption, specific gravity, porosity, and compressive strength. Samples from the first bore hole between 7.0 to 16.0 meters consisted of core samples of clayey weathered basalt, highly weathered basalt, and fresh basalt. The second bore hole between 3.0 to 13.0 meters also contained core samples ranging from clayey weathered basalt to fresh basalt. Physical properties and compressive strengths varied between sample types and depths.
