1 General Scope

This specification describes the requirements for different types of automotive gear oils.

2 Conflicts and Deviations

Any conflicts between this document and other applicable Mandatory Saudi Aramco
Engineering Requirements (MSAERs) shall be addressed to the EK&RD Coordinator.

Any deviation from the requirements herein shall follow internal company procedure
SAEP-302.

4 Oils

4.1 Automotive Gear Oil 85W-140

4.1.1 Scope

This specification describes the requirements of a hypoid-type gear


lubricant for general use in all types of automotive rear axles except
where specifically stated otherwise.

4.1.2 Requirements

The oil shall be of premium quality and approved for use as a


MIL-L-2105D product and suitable for API Service GL-5.

Viscosity Grade: SAE 85W-140

4.2 Automotive Gear Lube 90

4.2.1 Scope

This Specification describes the requirements of automotive gear


lubricant for use in manual transmission and differentials specifying
SAE 90 gear oil. The oil shall meet the requirements of Daimler Benz
Specification Sheet 235.1.

4.2.2 Requirements

The oil shall be premium quality and approved for use as a


MIL-L-2105B product and suitable for API Service GL-4.

Viscosity Grade: SAE 90

5 Qualification

The supplier shall provide evidence of qualification as stipulated above together with a
1-liter sample against which all supplies of the respective product must comply within
industry accepted tolerances. Initial qualification and any subsequent formulation
changes must be approved by the Responsible Standardization Agency.

6 Identification

Each container shall be marked as follows:
