EFFECTS OF GREEN LOGISTICS ON ENVIRONMENT
Introduction
Logistics is the planning, execution, organization and control of how goods flow.
Logistics involves development of the product, purchase, manufacture and lastly its transfer to
the user of the product. Logistics aims at meeting the peoples and markets demand at a low cost
and capital, and also build the relationship with consumers to be long term. Green logistics
involves enhancing the business management from market and government point of view while
looking at the limitations. This leads to the reduction of pollution on the environment.
Green logistics terms all efforts to determine and minimize impact of logistic activities on
ecology. It includes the actions of flow of products, service and information both forward and
reverse between consumption and origin. The aim is making justifiable value of company by
The people use a lot of natural resources more than what the earth can produce. This
leads to air and water pollution, degradation of soils, deforestation, and decrease in number of
species on earth. There is also exhaustion of nonrenewable resources. The resource exploitation
is more upstream in supply chain. Emphasis need to be put down on more efficient way on using
Gas emissions are categorized into, pollutant and toxic emissions. Gas emissions that are
toxic come from chemicals. Pollutant emissions on the other hand have an effect on the
environment. They may not necessarily be toxic. Due to green logistics, more efficient ways of
producing goods have been invented. This has helped in having a safer environment
EFFECTS OF GREEN LOGISTICS ON ENVIRONMENT
Waste is the volume of resources not transformed to the required product. All the effects
of logistics on environmental inflict costs. These costs, are borne by those performing the
logistics. Others have broader effects on the public and environment that are excluded from a
corporation’s financial records. The green logistics has ensured that companies generate waste in
few amounts
Water consumption is expressed in terms of the amount of water spent per unit output.
Water consumption can be due to evaporation from cooling water, water vapor escaping to the
sky, water loss through treatment of waste or disposal, and water loss through deep-well
instillation
The main aim of logistics is minimizing cost of products. This is due to the use of cost
effective ways of production. It has also been made possible due to the use of renewable sources
Conclusion
Green chain supply management gives companies a better use of the resources and waste
reduction. Adoption of green logistics allows and makes it possible to reduce use of fuels by
looking for more effective methods and forms. It also makes the company more competitive in
the market. The green chain management tries to remove waste, increase profits and reduce the
