Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.
Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the
engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is
not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.
Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before
removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when
the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with
your bare hand.
Lower the work tool to the ground and engage the parking brake.
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers

8. If the pressure is not correct, adjust the signal limiter valve. The pressure should be 23750 ± 350 kPa
(3450.0 ± 50.0 psi). Loosen locknut (2) . Rotate the adjusting bolt clockwise in order to increase the
pressure. Rotate the adjusting bolt counterclockwise in order to decrease the pressure. Tighten the
locknut. Repeat the procedure until the pressure is within tolerances.
9. When the signal oil pressure is correct, tilt the bucket forward until the bucket is level to the ground.
Lower the lift arms to the ground. Stop the engine. Remove the test equipment.

pressure is 25850 ± 350 kPa (3750 ± 50 psi). Refer to "Signal Limiter Pressure".
5. Start the engine. Raise the lift arms. Move the bucket fully to the TILT BACK position. Hold the
bucket against the stops. Observe the pressure of the pump cutoff pressure. The pump cutoff pressure
is 25900 ± 350 kPa (3756 ± 51 psi).
7. If the pump cutoff pressure is correct, stop the engine. Adjust the signal limiter valve to the proper
pressure. Refer to "Signal Limiter Pressure". Remove all of the test equipment.
8. If the pump cutoff pressure is not correct, stop the engine. Refer to "Adjustment of the Pump Pressure
Cutoff ".

2. Rotate the adjusting bolt (2) clockwise in order to increase the pump cutoff pressure or rotate the
adjusting bolt (2) counterclockwise in order to decrease the pump cutoff pressure.
4. Perform the test for the pump pressure cutoff in order to verify the cutoff pressure after you adjust the

3. Install the other end of the hose assembly on the test port (1) for the pressure of the piston pump. The
test port for the pressure of the piston pump is on the top of the bank valve.
Note: Do not move any work tool controls in order to check the standby pressure for the pump.
4. Run the engine at HIGH idle. Observe the pressure on the test port for the pressure of the piston pump.
The standby pressure for the implement pump is 1992 ± 240 kPa (289 ± 35 psi).

1000 kPa (145 psi) Pressure Gauge
Note: Only perform this pressure test, if you suspect an internal leak of the pump that is excessive. When
you remove the plug for the case drain in order to install a pressure tap, the oil must be able to drain into a
suitable container.

5. Install an 8T-0854 Pressure Gauge 1000 kPa (145 psi) on a 177-7860 Hose Assembly .
6. Install the other end of the hose assembly to the valved nipple.
8. Run the engine at HIGH idle. Operate the controls for the work tools.
9. Observe the pressure gauge. The maximum pressure for the case drain is 207 kPa (30 psi). If the case
drain pressure exceeds 207 kPa (30 psi) the pump has excessive wear or the pump has damage. You
may need to replace the pump.
