CASE 5

QUESTION

Using the concepts in equity, theory explain Mike’s problem.

ANSWER

Mike’s problem was focused on individual feeling of how being treated in comparison with others
in terms of salaries. The work which he did (input) comparing with the output (salaries)

Consider the following scenarios

 Input –Mike thought that he had a lot of work and he put much effort on the work he did
and was responsible to sensitive works in the firm.
 Output –Mike thought that what he was paid was less compared to the work he did and
also compared to other colleagues which had less responsibilities compared to him.

Hence in comparison to mike knew that the theory is inequity.

QUESTION 2

If you were mike’s boss and mike shared his feelings with you, what would you do?

ANSWER

As mike boss when mike shared his problem I will increase his salary compared to the market and
also compared to his input (work) because the employees should have treated equitably in order to
avoid tension –reducing behaviour
