1 GENERAL
1.1 REFERENCES
1.1.1 Section 15010 in this Division of the Specification applies to and is a part of this
Section of the Specification.
1.1.2 Section 15050 in this Division of the Specification also applies to and is a part of
this Section of the Specification. The Section contains requirements, products,
and methods of execution that apply to this Section as well as to other Sections of
Division 15.
1.2.1 The following work which is related to the air distribution work is specified in
other Sections of the Specification:
.1 all required 115 volt control wiring;
.2 all required power wiring to equipment.
1.3 SHOP DRAWINGS
1.3.1 Submit shop drawings for all products in Part 2.
2 PRODUCTS
2.2.1 Thermolec, Model "SC" , CSA certified electric booster heating coils as per the
drawing schedule, each complete with frame members, terminal boxes and covers,
ductwork flanges and associated sheet metal work are to be constructed of
heavy-gauge die-formed steel with an integral corrosion-resistant coating,
fabricated into the coil shape by spot welding, a corrosion protected and metal
sheathed finned heating element, an automatic reset and an auxiliary manual reset
snap-action high temperature limit control to protect the coils from overheating
from any cause, and a pre-wired control panel for electrical power and control
connections. Open coil elements are not acceptable.
2.2.2 Each pre-wired power and control panel shall be complete with:
.1 a disconnect switch;
.2 magnetic contactor(s);
.3 terminal blocks for power and control wiring connections;
.4 a pre-wired differential pressure switch to shut down the coil upon sensing a
"no-airflow" condition;
.5 a fused control transformer;
.6 a SCR (silicon control rectifier) controller.
2.2.3 Acceptable manufacturers are Thermolec Manufacturing Ltd., Custom Control
Panels Inc. (K. Dyck Enterprises), Indeeco Canada Inc. and P.M. Wright.
3 EXECUTION
3.1.1 Provide electric heating units where indicated on the drawings and connect with
all required power wiring.
3.1.2 Where required, provide ceiling brackets for ceiling mounted unit heaters.
3.1.3 Sizing of all heating units shall be scheduled or detailed on drawings. Confirm
finishes with the Consultant prior to ordering.
3.1.4 Provide all required hardware and accessories for mounting the heaters. Ensure
that mounting provisions are suitable in all respects for the particular construction
on which the heaters are to be mounted.
3.1.5 When installation is complete, check and test operation of each heater and adjust
as required.
3.1.6 Install thermostat for all electric units where shown on the drawings. Low voltage
control wiring from the thermostat to the electric heating units shall be performed
by the Controls Contractor.
3.2.1 Provide electric booster heating coils in supply ductwork where shown.
3.2.2 Secure each coil in place from the structure by means of hanger rods, independent
of connecting ductwork.
3.2.3 Connect the coils with ductwork in accordance with requirements of SMACNA
HVAC Duct Construction Standards Metal and Flexible.
