1. Let’s Write a Haiku or Two
a. Traditional-haiku
i. 5-7-5
ii. typically contain a ​kigo​, or seasonal reference, and a​ kireji, ​or verbal
caesura ​(cutting word).
iii. Senryu are often cynical or darkly humorous while haiku are more serious
b. Tanka
i. Tanka consist of five units 5/7/5/7/7
ii. Upper phrase, lower phrase
2. Let’s Reflect
a. Reddit is fun and wild

b. Lot of toxicity, weirdness

3. Things that Rhyme
a. Couplet-​two lines of verse, usually in the same meter and joined by rhyme, that 
form a unit.
i. Write one or two
b. Limerick-​a humorous, frequently bawdy, verse of three long and two short lines 
rhyming ​aabba​, popularized by Edward Lear.
c. Sonnet-​a poem of fourteen lines using any of a number of formal rhyme 
schemes, in English typically having ten syllables per line.
i. Read sonnet 130
d. Villanelle-​a nineteen-line poem with two rhymes throughout, consisting of five 
tercets and a quatrain, with the first and third lines of the opening tercet recurring 
alternately at the end of the other tercets and with both repeated at the close of 
the concluding quatrain.
