Lesson 1. Activity 1
The DepEd Memorandum on Suggested Strategies in Implementing LDMs for

SY 2020-2021 included the Learning Resources (LR) Map as a guide in selecting the
appropriate Distance LDM to be implemented in Schools/Divisions. Study this map and
answer the following questions in your Study Notebook:
1. Based on the map, what resources should you have in order to implement the
LDM adopted by your School/Division?
 Online SLM
 Offline Digital SLM
 Printed SLM
 SLM-Based Video
 MELCs aligned Video
 SLM-Based RBI
 Any of the available learning resources
2. Do you have the complete resources for the Distance LDM needed in class? If
the LRs are not complete or not available, what steps will you take to make these
available? What are your options to substitute these missing LRs?
 No, I do not have complete available resources for distance learning. I will
use the DepEd portals like LRMDS and DepEd Commons. If the LRs are
not available, I will search in the internet and look for the materials related
to the lesson. I will also do a teacher made materials and videos.
3. What support will you need to maximize the use of the two DepEd-sanctioned LR
Portals? From whom can you get this support?
 I need the support of my colleagues and ICT Coordinator to help and
guide me to look for other resources which can be found locally and also I
need the support from LGUs to provide some of the learning resources
applicable in the present situation currently happening now (internet
connection, gadgets, etc.)

4. Based on your evaluation of the materials, are they appropriate to the level and
characteristics of learners? Are there learners who might be disadvantaged by
the materials (based on reading ability, level of learning independence, level of
household support, distance)? What adjustments will you make in terms of the
LRs?
 No, because not all the learners are knowledgeable with the present kind
of learning. We need to look for other resources according to the needs
and characteristics of our learners.
 Yes, there must be learners who might be disadvantaged by the materials
such as reading ability, level of learning independence, level of household
support and distance.
 The adjustment that I need to make is, I will try to convert the learning
resources into something that can be easily understood by the learners. I
also need to consider their differences and similarities.

In your LAC Session, share and discuss your answers from the previous activity.
What support can you provide to your colleagues and what support can you get from
them in terms of LRs? Take note of the insights that you can gather from your
colleagues and write them in your Study Notebook.
 I can provide support to my colleagues through sharing the information that I

have learned in terms of LR to make the teaching-learning process be fun and
exciting.
 The gathered insights from my colleagues will help me to apply and integrate it in
my lessons. So, I am encouraging all the teachers to exert more efforts in making
video lesson to make in more catchy and interesting for the learners

Explore the Portals. In your Study Notebook, answer the following questions:
1. Given the LDM adopted in your School, how can the two DepEd portals respond
to your LR needs and those of your learners’? How do they complement the LRs
that you already have?
 These portals enable learners to Basic Education to continue learning and

for the teachers to deliver instructions in a safe work and learning
environment in this time of pandemic.
 The two DepEd Portals can provide supplementary materials that can be
used by our learners. I notice that these learning materials found in the
portals are mostly quality assured in which I can give assurance that they
follow the MELCs and guidelines given by DepEd.
2. What are the challenges in accessing the LRs in the portals both for you and
your learners? How will you overcome these challenges?
Challenges
 Access to the internet
 Computer literacy, although pupils are generally tech knowledge, and thus
able to manage computers well, lack of computer literacy is a major issue
among students today.
Solutions
 Technological training for teachers and pupils for enhancing their
knowledge about the use of technologies.
 Parent’s supervision for primary pupils in using gadgets.
3. What support will you need to be able to maximize the use of the LR Portals? From
whom can you get this support?
 Coaching/Mentoring and Hands-on activity in utilizing portals are the support that
I will be needing to be able to maximize the use of the LR portals and I can get
this through the help of our ICT Coordinator and colleagues with expertise
regarding this matter.

Explore how you can help and support each other in using the LR portals. Jot down the
insights and helpful information regarding the use of the LR portals in your Study
Notebook.
 Education must continue even in this time of crisis. Online platforms like LRMDS
and DepEd Commons portals take a big role to help both teachers and pupils.
LRMDS and DepEd Commons served as supplementary online instructional
materials in teaching and learning process which are different from the physical
or actual face to face encounter. Orienting and mentoring teachers, pupils and
parents in using these portals are really a great help for everyone.

Study the LR Rapid Assessment Tool. Download an LR from either DepEd

Commons or LRMDS Portal and assess the material using the tool. Answer the
following questions in your Study Notebook:
1. Was the material able to meet all the requirements?
 Absolutely yes, all the materials were able to meet all the requirements
2. Were there any questions in the assessment tool where you answered “No” or
“Cannot Be Determined”? What decision will you make on the LR material? Why?
 There were no questions in the assessment tool that I have answered “No” or
“Cannot be Determined”
3. Are there other aspects of the material not covered by the tool but still need to be
assessed? Specify which aspect/s.
 The answer key should be assessed to make sure all the answers are correct.
4. How does this exercise help you in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your
lesson and your learners?
 The exercises helped me in choosing the appropriate LR that suited to the
learner’s level, interest, gender and other needs. It also helped me to become
familiar on the available resources found in the DepEd Commons and DepEd
Portals.


Explore other non-DepEd LR portals/platforms you can find online. Take note of
the portals in your Study Notebook. Download at least one LR from each portal. Assess
the materials using the same tool and answer the following questions in your Study
Notebook:

1. Based on the Assessment Tool, how does the material from a non-DepEd Portal
compare with the LR from the DepEd Portal?
 The material from a Non-DepEd cannot be determine in terms of connection and

relevance to the MELCs, in the credibility of the author, in the culture and gender
fair and if it is free from copyright and plagiarism issues. Unlike in the Deped
Portals which were all assured to be reliable, undergone validations and no doubt
to meet all the criteria of the Assessment Tool.
2. Based on the results of the Assessment Tool, what improvements do the materials —
both from DepEd and Non-DepEd portals — still need?
 The materials from both DepEd and non-DepEd portals still need to improve the
presentation and organization of the content. Like using an appropriate
vocabulary level to the target clienteles likely about experience and level of the
understanding and the length of sentences should be suited to the
comprehension l.vel of the target learner.
3. How does this exercise help you in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your
lesson and your learners?
 The exercise help in choosing appropriate LRs for my lesson and my learners in
knowing the standards, specifications and guidelines for assessing , evaluating,
acquiring and harvesting, modifications and development and production of
resources.


Choose one of the LR materials that you have developed. Assess this material using
the same tool. Answer the following questions in Your Study Notebook:

1. How does your material compare with the ones that are obtained from the online
portals?
 Some of the online non DepEd LR's that can be obtained in other internet portals
of resources are not suited in our learners for Distance Learning and we are also
not that sure if those LR are originally made by the author. Not been validated, so
it appears that the references and the objectives of the latter don’t have the full
credentials of learning that is suitable for the pupils or learners. Also, the
advantage of our LR is, it is being molded locally principled. So it can fit on the
actual learning practices and environment of our pupils, while serving the whole
country as well with this natural principle of humanity.
2. What improvements do you still need to make in your developed material?
 Part of the improvement that is still need to focus w/ about LR making is my

capacity to make as many LRs as I can, so that I can have enough materials for
my or our school learners. Also, the stage of layout I should be open for new,
effective and convenient way or skill on beautifying our LRs.

Reflection
Being an educator, I need to be resourceful and innovative in looking for various

resources applicable for my learners. I have learned that there are plenty of reliable and
valid sources of information that I can found in the different DepEd Portals presented
earlier. And also, I am encouraged to create my own LR that will undergo validation
process which I can assure to satisfy the needs of my learners. The Rapid Assessment
Tool also help me to assess the quality of my LR material.
