The Islamic Center of Detroit (ICD) is one of the largest & most active Islamic Centers in the
Metro-Detroit area. It serves one of the largest Muslim communities in the US through diverse, creative,
inclusive and relevant programs and activities.

Full Time Imam/Community Religious Leader Full Time ICD Assistant Imam/Instructor

Responsibilities: Responsibilities:
● Lead prayers and deliver the Friday Khutbah ● Organize and conduct regular Quran halaqas/classes for
● Inspire  the  spiritual  growth  for  the  different  segments  of  the 
community  through  public  and  private  classes,  programs,  and  different age groups throughout the year
lectures.  ● Deliver regular spiritual reminders (khawatir) for the
● Provide funeral services and guidance community
● Provide religious matrimonial/divorce services and guidance ● Support Masjid committees’ activities
● Collaborate with the mental wellness team as needed
● Cover the role of the Imam in his absence
● Foster  Unity  and  inclusion  within  Islamic  guidelines  among  all 
local members of the southeast Michigan community  ● In coordination with the executive director, support the
● Engage in the community activities that further good multifaith ICD annual fundraising events & Ramadan Program
and public relations for Islam and Muslims
● Provide consultation to the Masjid committees on religious Qualifications/Requirements:
matters, community religious issues, and Mosque religious
activities ● Bachelor degree in Islamic Studies or related field
● Maintain regular office hours for the community ● A minimum of 5 years experience in teaching Islamic
● In coordination with the executive director, support the ICD Studies
annual fundraising events & Ramadan Program ● Follow  the  school  of  thought  of  Ahlul  Sunnah  Wal 
Qualifications/Requirements: Jama'aa 
● Fluency in English/Arabic
● Masters degree in Islamic Studies or related field, PhD preferred
● A minimum of 10 years Experience as an Imam in the West ● Effective verbal and written communication skills.
● Follow the school of thought of Ahlul Sunnah Wal Jama'aa  ● Three Tazkiya/Recommendations from reputable
● Fluency in English (Spoken and written) scholars
● Effective verbal and written communication skills. ● Authorized to work in the US
● Three Tazkiya/Recommendations from reputable scholars
● Authorized to work in the US
