(FUKU-SHIN)
Meaning:
Declaration of Waza-ari.

Waza-ari
Method of Signaling:
Arm, holding flag, toward corresponding competitor, held straight out at side of
body parallel to the floor simultaneously blowing one sharp whistle.
Meaning:
Declaration of Ippon

Ippon
Method of Signaling:
Arm holding corresponding flag held straight out at side of body 45 degee angle, then
blowing one sharp whistle.
Meaning:
Eligible technique
becomes point

Tek-kaku
Method of Signaling:
Corresponding flag for Waza-ari or Ippon with other flag covering eyes. Simultaneously
blow one sharp whistle.
Meaning:
No point or penalty

Tora-nai
Method of Signaling:
Waving the flags criss-crossing in front just above the knees with several
continuous sharp whistle.
Meaning:
Did not see

Mie-nai
Method of Signaling:
Both flags held criss-crossed covering eyes.
Meaning:
Out of bounds

Jo-gai
Method of Signaling:
Sharp whistle with corresponding flag held straight down (For simultaneous
Jyo-gai, both flags are held straight down).
Meaning:
Fall

Ten-to
Method of Signaling:
Sharp whistle with corresponding flag pointed at competitor
followed by one large, complete circular motion and then pointed
down toward floor.
Meaning:
Indication for emergencies
violations, sickness, any other
emergencies).

Emergency Signaling
Method of Signaling:
Several continuous, sharp whistle while holding corresponding
flag overhead.
Meaning:

Method of Signaling:
Flags are held criss-crossed above head.

Use both flags, crossing arms in front of chest.

Method of Signaling:
Corresponding flag held at a right angle with elbow in front of
body; flag moved side to side.

Where a technique
is ignored (Tecnique
executed ignores
opponent´s tecnique
which has sufficient
reach)

Mu-shi
Method of Signaling:
Corresponding flag held up covering eyes.
Meaning:
Grab/Clinch

Tsuka-mi
Method of Signaling:
Both flags held together in one hand while the other hand grabs
the two flags.
Meaning:
Declaration of victory
of the Aka (Shiro)

Aka (Shiro), no Kachi

Same signal as Ippon except that there is no whistle.
Meaning:
A draw

Method of Signaling:
Both flags crossed above the head.
Meaning:

Yowai
Method of Signaling:
Arm straight out in front parallel to floor at waist level then moved
downward toward knees.
Meaning:
Technique blocked

Uke
Method of Signaling:
One flag held up, elbow bent close to body, and the other held
sideways parallel to floor moving to touch first flag.
Meaning:
Off target

Nuke
Method of Signaling:
Arm bent at a right angle with flag sweeping across the stomach.
Meaning:
Off Distance: Insufficient
reach

Ma-ai Toh-ma
Method of Signaling:
Arms holding flags straight out in front about 15 cm (6 inches)
apart, then arms extend out about shoulder width.
Meaning:
Off distance: Too
close

Ma-ai Chika-ma
Method of Signaling:
Arms holding flags straight out in front about shoulder width, then
arms moved closed to about 15 cm (6 inches) apart.
Meaning:
Poor timing

Osoi
Method of Signaling:
Holding the corresponding flagh in each hand, with the arms bent
parallel in front of the body. Arms move flags in a quick circular
motion around each other.
Meaning:
Simultaneous attack

Ai-uchi
Method of Signaling:
Both flags held in front at waist level with elbows bent, flag tips
touching.
Meaning:
Weak stance

Tachi
Method of Signaling:
Both flags in front of chest forming triangle.
Meaning:
Snap back hand

Snap back
Method of Signaling:
Corresponding flag moved from chest forward in snappnig/
punching action.
Meaning:
No snap in
striking

Furi-Uchi
Method of Signaling:
Corresponding flag held straight to front, then swinging up to the
side at shoulder level.
Meaning:
No knee snap or thrust
kicking

Furi-Geri
Method of Signaling:
With elbows straight, corresponding flag arm swigs upwards from
low to high position.
Meaning:
Pushing technique

Oshi
Method of Signaling:
Hold respective side flag vertical to ground then push away
outward from body.
Meaning:
For technique with
opponsite body
momentum (technique
moves in onedirection
with the body retreating in
the opposite direction).

Nige
Method of Signaling:
Corresponding flag held in one hand, arm held forward and then
swinging once backward over the shoulder.
Meaning:
Use of incorret
striking part

Fu-teki
Method of Signaling:
Corresponding flag tapping top of opposite hand.
Meaning:
Faster technique

Hayai
Method of Signaling:
One arm bent completely at the elbow, held close to the body,
palm up, with the other arm coming across, flag in hand, with the
tip of the flag touching the side of the other flag.
Meaning:
Sign for actions
simultaneous with:
- Time up
- Jyo-gai
- Ten-to

Doji
Method of Signaling:
Both arms extended frontward at shoulder level, flags in hands,
and then bringing both flags together once in a kind clapping
motion.
Meaning:
After the fact (Tecnique is
executed after Yame or Jyo-gai)

Ato
Method of Signaling:
Holding the corresponding flag in each hand, then moving both
arms upward bent at the elbow with palms parallel at head level.
Meaning:
Very good timing

Yoshi
Method of Signaling:
Make circular motion with flag extended in front of body.
Meaning:
Wild flurry of uncontrolled
tecniques

Mo-Da
Method of Signaling:
One flag is held over eyes, other flag arm extended forward at
stomach level.
Meaning:
Final tecnique is weak
pressure to floor

Pressure
Method of Signaling:
With flags parallel to floor, one flag facing up, and the other flag
down, in front of stomach. Upper flag hits lower flag.
KOGO KUMITÊ

Meaning:
To hide one or both
hands

Kakushi
Método de Sinalização:
“Offense” side flagmoves to back side of body..
Meaning:
Defensive side initiates one
technique before the offensive side

Saki
Method of Signaling:
Top of flag shifling from “Defense” side to “Offense” side.
Meaning:
Escaping movement

Nige-tai
Method of Signaling:
“Defense” side flag, while pointed straight up, movesto side of body.
Meaning:
Too close

Chika-ma
Method of Signaling:
Bring both flagpoles together, tops pointed up, in front of chest area.
