Chi

Chi is the most important thing you need for Bending. Chi is invisible energy
located inside your body. It is the basic component of all life; everybody has
chi even if they don't know it. It is strong in some areas. Some say it is
strongest in your chakras because that might be where it comes from. It is
strongest in the arms and hands for most people. Chi is needed for bending
any element. It is the energy that our body utilizes to allow us to live. The
central pathway of chi is the vertebrae. Chi is the energy that keeps our
heart beating. It allows us to run, breathe, and do any other bodily activity.
When you move your hand to move the mouse on the computer, you are
using chi. But what most people don't know is that chi allows us to Bend.
Some people know how to use chi in extraordinary ways, such as DJ
(Dynamo Jack) you can find him on YouTube. Some people go their entire
life without even knowing what chi is, let alone even use it.  Right now, your
chi is only strong enough to do the things you do every day. When you are
through with your training, your chi will be strong enough to bend the
elements.

Now, I will tell you how to use your chi to do different things besides what
you do every day. The most basic and unique thing you can do with your chi
is to make a chi ball. The chi ball is the building block for almost every
bending technique you will learn. But first, you need to know how to get
your body to notice your chi. In other words, you have to learn how to "feel"
your chi.

---Many people have been wondering if they have to do every chi

technique there is on this page. The answer is no. I suggest you stop
at either the Chi Radiation #2 technique or the Chi Projection
technique and then start Bending an element.---

Chi Ball: This lesson is an important milestone in chi development. To make
a chi ball you have to be able to move chi. This is simple, however; yet a lot
of people have trouble with it. The chi ball is created by moving chi energy
into the desired location, in the form of a small sphere. The size is up to you,
but it is normally easier to create one about the size of a baseball.

Make sure you are in a position that is comfortable for you. Don't get your
hands in a position that makes you tired and makes you shaky because of
strain. Now, get the chi flowing. You will want to visualize the chi in your
sternum. (The sternum is the location just under your ribs, place your hand
on your stomach and your pinky touching the top of your belly button, this is
the area you are going to want to use.) There are many ways to visualize
and feel what chi looks like, just see whatever you see your chi as looking
like. If you think it looks like water, use water. Light, fire, etc. Envision the
chi energy gathering in your sternum, with however you see it, and feel it
gather. Most people will feel sensations when they use chi. Be it heat, cold
tingles, a build-up of pressure, or what have you. The feeling is entirely your
own. Now to move it, visualize it slowly moving up, going up your chest (try
to avoid it going into major nerve clusters) and over to your shoulders,
slowly. Have it go down your arms, and into your hands, have it pool there
for a little while, then bring it back up, and make it go back to your sternum.
Do this a few times until you can get the feel of it.

Now the chi ball. Gather chi, then pull it up from your sternum using the
method above. But, when you get it to your hands, instead of having it pool,
make it flow out and into the shape of a hollow sphere. This sphere is what
you are going to use as a shell, a mold of sorts. Think of it as an outline, so
to keep your chi in the right place. Now you will want to fill that shell with
chi energy, let it flow from your hands, and into the shell, filling it up. Once
you feel that it is full, then you have made a chi ball. If you notice, there
might be a slight pressure between your hands. There could also be a
feeling, such as heat, being cold, etc. inside the chi ball as well.

Chi Projection: Chi projection is self-explanatory. You send chi from your

body to that of another. It's fairly simple, and since you can already gather
your chi, that cuts down to explaining anything. Chi projection is used as a
base for all chi techniques on this page.

First, use a calming meditation. Breathe in and out slowly for about a minute
to relax your body. Have what you want to project your chi to close by. For
this lesson, we will use a tree. After you are in a calm state, gather your chi
in your sternum. Slowly, lead the chi up to your chest, over to your
shoulders and down your arms into your hands. Keep the flow of chi
constantly flowing from your sternum. After the chi reaches your hands, let
it flow out of your hands, see it leaving your palm centers and extending out
and away from your body to the object in front of you, use your energy to
feel the energy of the tree in front of you. Slowly, let your chi fold around
the tree and slowly seeping up the tree, mixing with its energy and
becoming a part of it. Feed the chi through from your sternum to your arms
and hands to the tree until you have filled and surrounded it. After that, pull
back your energy, leaving the tree, separating itself from the tree's energy,
coming back into your palms, back up your arms and down your sternum.
Feel your chi re-form itself inside of you.

Practice this over and over again until you can do it with any object at any
time.

Chi Ball 2: Do meditation for 5 minutes (see the Meditation Page). Making a
chi ball is the first step to Bending any element. After your meditation, you
are ready for practice. All you need to do is feel your chi flowing inside you.
Your chi can feel like almost anything. Here are some examples: water
flowing inside your body, heat flowing, something crawling inside your body.
Anything that makes you feel a sense of power inside you is fine. After
you've felt your chi, next face your palm together like you are holding a ball.
Use your visualization and feeling to spin your chi ball. Spin the chi ball for
as long as you can. You should be able to feel something in your hand.
Remember to visualize and feel for this whole exercise. Practice this lesson
every day. Treat it as a routine.

If you are feeling low on chi, meditate for 10 minutes, and visualize the
three main sources of chi (the sun, moon, and earth) in front of you and
visualize chi coming from them. After you think you've gotten enough chi,
carry on with the chi ball exercise without the meditation part as you have
already meditated.

Chi Control: Lay or sit down in a comfortable place and hold your hand out.
Now imagine a light warm light ball has just appeared in your hand and hold
that thought in your head. When you feel a warm feeling in your hand you
know you are chi projecting and chi projecting is a good way to increase
your chi flow.

Drawing Chi: Sit in a cross-legged position. Back straight, chin up. Put your
hands so that your left hand is holding your right calf muscle, and vice-
versa. Close your eyes and begin to breathe slowly. 4 seconds breathing in,
hold for 2, breathe out for 4, hold for 2. This is called the four-fold breath. It
relaxes your mind and body. After about 10 times of doing that, start doing
the following: breathe in like you normally would, but this time picture
breathing in the chi around you. Have it go up to your nostrils and stop there
when you hold your breath. Feel it as being w As you breathe out, focus on
the chi traveling down your body and splitting into two parts so that it can
go down both your arms. Let the chi flow down both arms and into the
calves. Keep the chi flowing up your legs until it winds up at your stomach.
Repeat this until you feel you have drawn enough energy. After a while,
you'll be able to draw in chi while you're doing something.

Drawing Chi 2: Get in a ready stance. start drawing in energy. Let the chi
fill you up. In your mind, visualize your body as empty and the chi coming
and filling it up. After about a minute, you should feel warm inside. This
means that you were successful. This allows the chi to flow easier and make
chi easier to control.

Feeling Your Chi: First off, try meditating for 5 minutes. You can listen to
your iPod and do it, except you close your eyes and focus on the black
behind your eyes and breathe deeply. Meditation helps you calm down and
therefore lets your chi flow.

Now that you've meditated, take both your hands, cup them, and feel
something hot, cold, or tingly. Focus on something churning inside your
stomach and feel it branch out in any direction of your palms. Try this so you
know what your chi feels like and you will easily know your chi.

You might notice after a while that when your chi comes out of your hands,
your palms heat up. That's when you know chi is coming out of your hands.

*Keep practicing chi and Chi Techniques and sooner or later, your chi will
become stronger. Stronger chi means stronger Bending.*

Feeling Your Chi 2: First, you are going to do a meditation. Not an

elemental one, just one that you simply close your eyes and block out
everything, including your emotions. Relax until you focus on the blackness
behind your eyes. Simple right? Next, open your eyes and try to stay
focused. Now, try to feel something inside your body. It can feel like
anything you want. Hot, cold, tingly, etc. Feel this sensation throughout your
body. Feel it strongest in your vertebrae. If you can do this, then now you
can feel your chi!

Chi to increase Speed: This is fairly simple. Wave your hand in the air in
front of you. As you are doing this, visualize an image of the hand move at a
faster rate. Bring your hand back and perform a front punch. As your arm
extends, picture the mental fist drawback. As your real fist draws back,
imagine the mental one striking. Practice this with both hands. After
continuous practice, you will begin to see results. It's a mental trick, I
honestly don't know why it works.

Grounding: Stand in a fighting position. Feel the chi in your body. Now

visualize roots shooting out of your feet and into the ground. Picture the
roots planting into the ground and absorbing chi. Then, begin to visualize
your energy merging with the earth's energy. In case you were wondering,
yes this is an Earth Bending technique, but it can also be used to boost your
chi. This is a technique that gives a little boost to a Chi Attack and helps
prevent burnout.

Chi Ball 3: Raise both hands into the air. Now go into a standing meditation.
Bring chi in from all around you. Have it collect over your hands. Keep
drawing it until you have a mass of chi over your hands. Use your will power
to compact it and form it into a ball. Let the energy ball rest about one foot
above your hands. Keep collecting chi until it has sufficient energy needed to
perform its task.

Chi Shell: Feel your chi. Now, take both of your hands and spread them a
little farther apart than the way you do in the Chi Ball Technique. Feel your
chi being between your hands. Very slowly, move your palms towards each
other. Feel your chi getting more compressed and limited to its space. Into a
shell-like shape of chi. If you can feel a force between your hands getting
pressurized, and form a little chi ball in the form of a shell, you've done this
right!
Chi Radiation: Put your chi into your hands, now imagine your chi radiating
outward into anything you want. Start with small items when you begin.

Chi Radiation 2: After you feel your chi, attempt to shift the feeling to both
your hands. After you successfully shift your chi, feel the chi slowly radiating
out of your hands. Do not try to be as accurate as to where you are radiating
it to. Simply just radiate it randomly out of the palm of your hand.

Chi Projection: For this Chi Technique, you need an object (preferably an

empty plastic bottle). Feel your chi. Take one of your hands and feel your chi
leaving your hand and entering the bottle (or object). Keep projecting until
you can't do it anymore.

*When you think you are ready, try moving the bottle with your hand when
your chi is inside the bottle. Try moving it to the right or left. When you do
this technique right, you'll be able to feel it streaming outwards.*

Chi Line: Put one hand on the ground and radiate your chi into the ground.
Imagine your chi flowing in a line toward an item, then into the item, and on
the ground.

Chi Circle: Put your hand onto the ground, then radiate your chi in a circle
around your body.

Chi Fusing: Chi fusing is when 2 different chi is mixed together and make
another chi. Take the chi from one object and then put it in another chi. You
can make the other chi and put it in that object's chi.

Chi Dome: Make a chi ball and imagine the chi ball expanding to encase
your whole body in a bubble. Visualize the chi hardening into a solid,
impenetrable substance.
Using Less Stamina When you Run: This will help you when you run.
Before you run, you should probably stretch a little so you don't get cramped
up. Feel your chi before you run. Now, start running. When you run,
visualize your chi flowing down to your legs and feet. Feel your chi wrapping
around your muscles and most of your legs. If you do this correctly, you can
use less stamina and you'll be able to run for longer periods without getting
tired. You might also go a little faster. Breathing also helps. Don't hold your
breath, because it won't work.

Multi Convergence: Also known as the Tri Form technique, it allows the

user to create spiritual, sometimes physical replicas of him or herself. Stand
in a straight position and power up. This time keep ALL the energy from the
power-up inside of your body. Feel the chi moving inside of you. Use your
will power to make it move faster. Make the chi inside of you move through
your body at an incredible rate. Draw in chi to fill gaps of energy. In your
mind, you want the chi to move so fast it doesn't look like it's moving at all.
When you feel that, this has been accomplished. Extend your dominant leg
and sidestep. As you step, visualize the chi being left where you were. Also,
picture giving a little of your spirit into it. When you have fully stepped out,
visualize the chi hardening into human form and taking on the image of you.
Once accomplished, you have full control over the clone. If the focus is lost,
or the clone is hit with a chi technique that overpowers it, it will melt away
and return to you. If you give a piece of your mind to it, it can think on its
own and you don't have to focus on it.

Chi Combat:

Chi Shield: Feel out the chi in your body. Feel it flow through your
meridians (energy channels). Now start making chi come out of your
stomach, and more chi out of your body. Make the chi that comes out of
your body form around you have a crystal shape. After a minute or so, you
should have an entire outer shell around you. Now start filling the space
between your body and the outer shell with chi. Once this is accomplished,
visualize the outer shell of the full shield turning into hard, invincible metal
or steel. The harder the concentration, the harder the shield.
Attacking with Chi: To attack with chi, do this: when you shoot your chi at
something/one, you need to shoot it THROUGH the opponent. The reason for
this is that the chi will act as a sonic boom and create a shockwave. This
ruptures their chi and will sometimes send them crumbling to the ground
gasping for air. But there is something to remember: closing the distance
increases the results of the attack. When chi travels too far, it falls apart.
Also, a physical attack that's charged with chi is much more devastating
because there is no space between the chi and the opponent.

Basic Chi Blast: Put your hands to your side and make a chi ball. You
should be standing in a wide stance. Focus on the opponent, but keep your
concentration on the chi ball. Keep adding energy to it until you think it has
enough. Focus on the chi inside of you radiating out about to explode with
its true force. Lean forward and thrust your hands out in a double-palm
strike. Tighten your hands and make the chi inside of you explode inside of
you and let it out in a short, devastating blast. Push the chi ball away from
your body and through the opponent. This will likely only cause the
opponent to lose stamina and concentration. NOTE: do not perform this
technique and make physical contact. Only do that as a last resort. If the
blast is powerful enough and physical contact is made, physical damage can
be done.

Chi Punch: Begin to feel out the chi in your body. Now, let it flow into the
hand that is going to attack. Keep the chi inside of the hand. Once you have
collected a sufficient amount of chi, start focusing on the space behind your
opponent. Then, tell yourself you're going to punch that space. Attack and
let out a shockwave of chi going through the opponent the instance you
make contact.

Chi Kick: Fill your leg with chi and repeat the instructions for Chi Punch,
replacing hand with the foot.

Chi Flame: Start by drawing in energy and letting it flow throughout your

entire body. Keep drawing more and more. Fill your inner and outer body
with chi. Next, make all of it explode and come outwards so that it is outside
of your body and surrounding you like a flame.
Basic Chi Healing: Place your hands on the wounded or painful area.
Picture your chi as the color yellow, and the pain as the color red. As your
chi enters the other person's body, have the yellow energy overpower the
red energy. In your mind, it should look like the yellow is eating away at the
pain. After about a minute, there should be no more red, meaning no more
pain.

Basic Chi Healing #2: Place your hands about an inch above the person
who is injured. Wave your hands across their body and pay attention to any
of their energy that feels different from the rest. That is the source of their
pain. Touch the injured area and visualize grabbing the pain and releasing it
into the air to be cleansed. Replace the energyless area with your chi.
Healing takes about 5 minutes to go into effect.

Chi Blast: Go set up for a regular chi blast. Place your hands to your side
and create a chi ball between them as you normally would. After the chi ball
is created, begin to visualize the chi hardening into a solid object. I visualize
it hardening into a rock. When in your mind it looks like a rock between your
hands, thrust it out like you normally would. When the "rock" is released,
visualize the stream of chi pushing it as a pole or a piece of two by four. I
imagine a huge telephone pole emerging and shooting at the opponent. Ram
the pole straight through the opponent. This will give a visible effect on the
damage. It may cause a red mark or something the first few times you try
it. Practice it on a friend first, but make sure he or she has a proper gear on.
I did this before to a friend of mine before he wasn't wearing any gear. He
bends down and acted as he had just been punched real hard in the gut.
When he recovered, he commented that it felt like a telephone pole was
rammed through him.

Multiple Chi Balls: Draw both hands back so that your right hand is next to
your right ribcage (loading), and vice-versa. Create a chi ball in each hand.
Thrust one hand forward and launch the chi ball at the opponent. As you
draw it back, do the same thing with the other hand. While one hand is
loading, quickly charge it back up with chi and create another chi ball. The
objective is to be able to quickly create chi balls in case of an emergency.
But you have to remember that the more chi balls you blast, the more
energy you use, so the weaker the balls become.
Chi Disk: Put on hand up and create a chi ball. Have it hover about 4 inches
above your hand. Now, there is a red orb of energy located in the center of
your palm called the palm chakra. Open it by visualizing it filling with light
and beginning to spin fast. Once opened, it will spin at about 600 times per
second. Create a link from your hand to your chi ball. The spinning of the
chakra will naturally make the chi ball spin. Use your will power to flatten
out the ball into a disk. You should now have an energy disk spinning at
about 500 times per second. Throw it at something a few feet away and
watch what happens. If it was strong enough, a slash could have been
created. Practice this technique until you can cut through trees and fences
with it.

Burning Knuckle: Stand in your fighting position. Draw your dominant

hand (the hand you write with) back. now perform the chi flame power-up.
Force ALL the energy in the flame into your hands. Let the flame expand a
little and engulf your entire hand. In your mind, it should look like your hand
is on fire. Focus behind your opponent and attack. Once contact is made, let
the flame go as a blast. Turn your knuckle a little. Even after you've made
contact, still try to reach the air behind your opponent.

Air Strike's Apocalypse: Note that this is a finishing attack and is meant

for when your opponent is wounded. It won't kill them in most cases, but it
will end the battle. Stand in a straight-back stance with the opponent about
2 feet away from you. Have the opponent to the side of you. Look in the
direction of the opponent and extend your arm on that side. Have the palm
facing towards him or her. Create a block in your hand that will not allow chi
into your hand. Create another at the shoulder that lets chi in, but not out.
Start letting chi flow into your arm and try to reach your hand. Make it keep
pushing the block. The more chi, the stronger the push. Fill your arm with
chi as much as you can. This builds up pressure pushing against the block.
When you just can't hold in anymore, quickly remove the block. This will
have the effect of a pressure hose. The chi will come racing out at an
enormous rate. It will be too much for you to control, so don't even try, just
let it come out. This will bewind the opponent and he or she will no longer
have the strength nor stamina to continue fighting you.

Chi Mine: Bring one hand up and create a strong chi ball filled with the
energy of living organisms all around you. Once you've created this ball,
"lock on" to your opponent. Throw the ball but do not let the ball go through
him or her. Instead, keep the chi inside of the opponent. With the hand that
created the chi ball extended in front of you, tell yourself (in your head) that
when you close your hand into a fist, your hand will act as a remote for the
"mine" inside the opponent. Also tell yourself that when you open it, the
remote will be triggered, and the mine will explode. Practice this technique
on a tree, or someone equally as powerful as you. ALL questions about this
technique should be sent to the Truth Keeper, one of my students (he
created the technique, TruthKeeper@aol.com)

Chi Drill: Stand in a wide stance with your body facing the opponent. Bring
your dominant hand (the hand you write with) and extend the index and
middle fingers on that hand. Place the hand 6 inches from your chest. Close
your eyes and begin focusing all your chi into those two fingers. Once you've
generated as much chi as you can, let some of it come out and rotate
around your fingers like blades. Load that hand and thrust it straight
forward. Project the chi with a spear point at the tip of the beam. Create
rotating blades around the beam. Focus on it drilling through the opponent.
