National Semiconductor MOS EPROMs MM1702A 2048-Bit (256 x 8) UV Erasable PROM General Description The MMI702A is a 256 word by Bbit Wectrcaly programmable ROM ideally sited for usos where fart {urrearound and pattern experimentation are important. ‘The MMI7O2A undergoes complete prosramning ard funtion testing on each bit position rior toshipment, thus insuring 100% programmability ‘The MM1702AQ is packaged in 2 24-pin duatintine package witha transparent fi, The transparent lid allows the user to expose the chip ¢o ultraviolet light to erave ‘the bit pattern, A new pattern can then be written into ‘the device. The MMI7O2AD is packaged in a 24-pin ‘dualindine package with a meta lid and isnot erasable. ‘The circuitry of the MMI7O2A is entirely static: no clocks are required A pinsorpin metal mask programmed ROM, the MM1302 is ideal for large volume production runs of systems initially using the MMIT702A ‘The MM1702A is fabricated with silicon gate technology. This low threshold technology allows the design and Production of higher performance MOS circuits and Drovides a higher funetional density on a monolithic chip than conventional MOS technologies Features 1 Fast propramming~30 seconds for all 2048 bite "All 2048 bits guaranteed programmable—100% factory tested Fully decoded, 256 x 8 oxganization Static MOS—no clocks required laputs and outputs OTL and TTL compatible TRESTATE® butput—OR tie capability ‘Simple memory expension-chip select input lead Direct replacement for the Intel 17028 Block and Connection Diagrams rope Pin Nemes (Order Numb MM170280, ‘Seo NS Package 12400 a0-A7 ‘dere rou | s Chip Selec input Dour 1~oure | Data Outputs Pin Connectons* woverm |? 13 16 6 6 a fe (Weer] _rocram | (8) | (Veo! i) Wecl_| ee! Information is introduced by selec- tively programming "1's" (output high) in the proper bit locations Word address selection is done by the same decoding iculty used in the READ mode (see table for logic levels). All 8 address bité must be in the binary comple ment state when pulsed Voo and Veg move to thelr negative levels. The addresses must beheld in their binary complement state for a minimum of 264s after Vig and. Vee have moved to their negative levels. The addresses must then make the transition to thelr tue state a MM1702A Erasing Procedure The MMI202A may be erased by exposure 10 high Intensity shortwave ultraviolet light at a wavelength of, 2837A. The recommended incegrated dose (ie., UV intensity x exposure time) is BW sec/em?. Examples of Ultraviolet sourees which can erase the MMT702A in 10 t0 20 minutes are the Model UVS-54 and Model 5-52 shortwave ultraviolet lamps manufactured by Ulta Violet Products, Inc. (5114 Walnut Grove Avenue, ‘San Gabriel, California). The lamps should be used with- minimum of 10us before the program pulse is apatied ‘The addresses should be programmed in the sequence (0-258 for a minimum of 32 times, The eight output terminals are used a¢ data inputs to determine the information pattern in the eight bits of each word. A low data input level (-ABV) will program a "1" and a high data input level (ground) will leave a “0” (see table on page 4-4), All eight bits of one word are programmed simultaneously be setting the desired bit information patterns on the data input terminals. During the programming, Vea, Voo and the Program Pulse are pulsed signal ‘out shortvave filters, and the MM1702A to be erased should be placed about one inch away from the lamp tubes. There exits no absolute rule for erase time. Establish a worst ease time required with the equipment. Then overerase by a factor of 2, Le. if the device appears erased after 8 minutes, continue exposure for fan additional 16 minutes for a total of 24 minutes (Way be expressed as x + 2x.)
