MonoProof PU 1000

Single component, Aliphatic, Water based Exterior PU Modified,

Flexible Water Proofing Membrane

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

MonoProof PU1000 is a flexible, single component aliphatic an liquid membrane for walls and roofs. It cures
to a permanently flexible seamless membrane that has good adhesion to a wide range of substrates unlike
more traditional bitumen based products. The coating is crack-bridging, does not readily embrittle with age,
exposure to ultra violet radiation or weathering, and hence it does not crack or craze due to its flexible
properties. It has very good resistant to fungus and bacteria. It is elastomeric and hence not adversely
affected by extremes of temperature.

Typical Applications

Application Instructions
Pre-treatment of the substrate by grit or shot blasting, high-pressure water jetting, grinding or
scarifying (including the necessary post treating) is only necessary when the primer or a scratch primer
is very dirty or, where sand broadcasting has been omitted, when the re-coating interval has been
exceeded
Note:
All new cement-sand renderings /concrete surfaces should be allowed to age 6 to 8 weeks before
Surface Preparations

surface coating.
Surfaces should be clean and sound and free of all bond-inhibiting contaminants.
Concrete substrates should be fully cured.
The substrate must be prepared by suitable mechanical preparation techniques such as light sweep
blasting, high pressure water jetting, needle guns, blast cleaning etc. and properly pre-wetted to a
saturated surface dry (SSD) condition. High-suction substrates require more dampening then dense
substrates. However, make sure there is no free-standing water. Blast clean to remove all
contaminants within the pores / blowholes.

All the surfaces which are to receive MonoProof PU1000, must be free from oil, grease, wax, dirt or
any other form of foreign matter which might affect adhesion. Spalled and deeply disintegrated
concrete should be removed to sound concrete and repaired with MonoBuild System. Roofing tiles
should be firmly bedded and grouted before application.
Mixing Instructions

1. Prior to use, mix MonoProof PU1000 at slow speed with drill and mixing paddle to ensure uniform
color and aggregate disbursement and to minimize air entrapment.

2. In multi-pail applications, mix the contents of each new pail into the partially used previous pail to
ensure color consistency and smooth transitions from pail to pail.

Minor damage to MonoProof PU1000 can be repaired by removing loose membrane cleaning the
surrounding area with water overlapping by 150mm. priming the area with PRIMER and finishing with
two coats of MonoProof PU1000. Apply uniformly and finish by back rolling

Once the primer is completely dry then apply first coat which when dried follow it up with the second
coat at 90° right angles to the first coat ensuring a complete coverage. Please note that air bubbles
Application Instruction

trapped under the surface must be removed in order to achieve the maximum waterproofing effect.
Apply third coat if required

NOTE : PLEASE DO NOT DILUTE ANY COAT AFTER THE PRIMER IS APPLIED

MonoProof PU1000 requires to applied at minimum thickness of 1.2 mm of (DFT) in 3 coat Apply a
minimum 1 Kg covers @ 0.7 sq /m per coat in two coats perpendicular to each other over a primed
surface In case of multi-coat application, the previous coat should be touch dry depending on the
weather conditions).

1. Ensuring that the surface is smooth and without any pinholes allow 24 hours at 20°C before
commencing to apply a suitable tile adhesive. Please note that a third coat may be required if
any imperfections are present in the membrane.
2. MonoProof PU1000 can be applied by brush or roller without the need to mix, stir or heat
before application. MonoProof PU1000 can be made into a sprayable grade.
The dry film thickness (DFT) of MonoProof PU1000 should not be less than 0.55mm or more than
1.0mm for each coat. Rough surfaces will reduce the coverage rate and consequently more material
must be allowed to achieve the minimum DFT.

Note:
Priming

Test a small area of the surface (minimum 1.5m) by 1.5 m before general application to ensure desired
performance results, aesthetics and coverage rates and to verify application technique. Allow 5–7 days
for the product to fully react before evaluating. All surfaces to be primed with the same product
diluted with 20% water.

The primer can be applied with a brush, roller or squeegee depending on the size of the area required
to be primed. Allow 10–30 minutes at a temperature of 20 °C for the primer to dry before
commencing to waterproof with MonoProof PU1000

Surfaces previously treated with silicone-based materials will inevitably be difficult to overcoat and
this should not be attempted with MonoProof PU1000

Substrates with poor adhesion to the underlying structure (e.g. blistered roofing felt) may also cause

problems in providing sound over-coating.

Preferential vapor drive in buildings must also be borne in mind when over-coating the roof and it may
be judged expedient to employ ventilation to cope with transmission of high levels of moisture vapor.

Coverage rates may vary with surface and porosity. The information given is based on average usage.
A site trial is recommended.

PLEASE DO NOT DILUTE ANY COAT AFTER THE PRIMER IS APPLIED

Protection screed: Screed concrete with slope (min avg. thickness 50 mm) admixed with Glass fiber
mat.

MonoProof PU1000 has a shelf life of 12 months in unopened packs, if kept in a dry store. In high

humidity locations, the shelf life may be reduced to less than 6 months. Prevent MonoProof PU1000
liquid from freezing. In tropical climates the product must be stored in an air-conditioned
environment.
