1 Check hardware connection, DDF,E1 cable,ground cable, etc.
Record exiting E1 and Ethernet cables connection and make clear labels in

both source and sink sites. This is for roll back in case needed.

Procedure
In the Function Tree, click the tributary board where the loopback is to be

performed.
Choose Configuration > PDH Interface in the Function Tree. Then, the PDH
2
Interface page is displayed.
Select the E1 signal to be looped back. Then, double-click Tributary Loopback
3
and select Inloop or Outloop.
4 Click Apply.

view 1 E1 inloop indicates that the E1 signal is looped back toward the backplane.
2 E1 inloop indicates that the E1 signal is looped back against the backplane.

Standard Installation of OptiX RTN 900
1.2B Test the E1 Services AB 30 minutes
Procedure
Click the tributary board to be tested, and choose Configuration > PRBS Test in

the Function Tree. Then, the PRBS Test page is displayed.
Select the E1 signal to be looped back. Double-click Direction and select

Tributary. Then, set the test duration to 15 minutes.
Note
The test directions of the PRBS test function as follows. In the tributary direction,
the bit errors from the local DDF to the equipment can be tested. When the
1
remote E1 signal is looped back and the cross direction is selected at the local
end, the bit errors from the radio link to the local tributary board can be tested.

Procedure
Cut over E1 cable connection at both source and sink sites. E1 cut over must be

done one by one, and confirm with NOC the current E1 is working properly.
2 Make new jumpers between RTN900 equipment and BTS
After all E1 and Ethernet services cut over are completed, the service is up
3
again. Record the time and report to Huawei and Operator.

2 No cable ties or other sundries are left on the floor or in the cabinets.

Procedure
If the service down time exceeded 4 hours and the swap is not completed, roll
1 back has to be performed. The roll back must be confirmed with Huawei and
Operator in advance.
2 Recover E1 and Ethernet cables as previous connection.
