CORR-SELA: SORRing into Senior Year
Mission Statement:
The Corr-Sela for Senior Caucus ticket is united to achieve one, paramount objective: an
optimal senior experience for the Class of 2021. In order to achieve this, we have crafted
our platform around three key goals. First, we offer innovative virtual solutions to
preserve senior traditions. Second, we include extensive support for seniors throughout
the college application process. Finally, we embrace the importance of transparency and
student engagement. With our record of overcoming challenges and undertaking
ambitious projects and a new, committee-based Caucus structure, our team is well
equipped to implement our detailed platform and serve the Class of 2021 in our final year
at Stuyvesant.

b. International Pen Pal Program
Our Principles:
1. Maintaining a Positive Working Relationship w/ the Administration
In the past three years, we have established a close, productive working
relationship with the administration. Our international pen pal program,
preparedness fair, in-class biology lectures, and annual dances all benefited from
direct support from the Principal and department Assistant Principals. We have
already r eached out to Principal Yu and following our meeting with him through the
“Get To Know Yu!” sessions, we are confident that we will be able to work closely
and effectively with the new administration.
2. Collaboration w/ SU and other Caucuses
We believe that it is our responsibility to foster a relationship of mutual respect
and consideration between the Student Union and Caucus, mending a
long-standing rift between the two groups. Given our commitment to
sustainability, a history of promoting collaboration and sharing projects (as seen in
our lecture series and disaster preparedness fair), and our experience with several
Student Union administrations, we are the ideal candidates to establish a fresh,
productive dynamic between the Student Union and Caucus. To this end, we plan
on working alongside the Student Union to expand the international pen pal
program to more classes at Stuyvesant and a greater variety of languages.
Furthermore, as seniors who have greatly benefited from years of mentorship and
warm support from past student leaders, we recognize that it is critical to promote
cross-caucus partnership and will thus prioritize mentoring younger Caucuses. In
the past, we have partnered with other Caucuses on initiatives including
Boograms, pep rally, and bake sales. We will continue to set this precedent by
working closely with another Caucus on the “So You Want To Be A ___” career
newsletter in order to ultimately pass it down.
3. Advocating in the Best Interest of Seniors
Championing policies that serve the best interest of the class of 2021 is at the core
of our values. We have previously demonstrated this commitment during last
year’s AP Physics 1 course cancellation, when we passionately advocated for
physics review sessions, AP Physics Exam refunds, and reasonable lab expectations
(including one book per student that can be taken home and pushing back the
established deadline for review questions). All of these initiatives were
successfully implemented as planned, with the exception of after-school review
sessions, which were sadly canceled due to COVID-19. In addition, as Sophomore
Caucus, we effectively fought for having a Semi-Formal, despite administrative
pushback due to past incidents. We would like to emphasize that finding creative
solutions for graduation, prom, and SING! 2021 as the pandemic evolves is of the
utmost importance to us. These are immensely valued senior experiences and we
promise to preserve them as best as conditions will allow.
