TENSION
- calibrate tension with larger zig-zag
- bobbin-tension test: thread the case and holding the thread tail, drop the case into
your other hand. Shake it up and down so you can feel how much tension is on the
thread. It should roughly match the tension of the needle thread when it's pulled through
all its tensioning. If the bobbin drops right into your hand like there's no resistance it's
too loose, and if it won't budge, it's too tight.

needles: 15x1, HAx1, 130/705H, Singer 2020, SY2020, SY2031, 206x15, PFx130

FABRIC
• selvage= manufacturer made edge (the one with the company name/info) [ | ]
thread selvage to selvage= weft/crosswise grainline (cut across at store when
cutting from bolt)
parallel to selvage= warp/lengthwise grainline –> referenced on patterns [ — ]
for knits= greatest stretch
diagonal grainline= true bias [ / \ ]
gives relaxation
for knits= medium amt of stretch; for wovens= most stretch
• plain weave= basket-weave/criss-cross
twill weave= warp does not cross under every other weft (every 3rd, say)
