Task 4 Cycle. Individual activity Case analysis of a document.

Please answer the following questions

 What is the environmental cause or problem generated according to

the article and where is it developed?
we can say that it is necessary precisely to change our way of thinking and acting
in order to modify the destiny to which we are taking the planet. A cultural, social,
political, economic change, etc., is necessary. to prevent the ecological crisis from
finally destroying humanity.
The environmental problems related to the economic and social development have
been, for several decades, taken more and more into account. The current
production system has led us to a critical situation that is not easy to get out of,
even putting the biggest effort.
 What diseases can be presented by the handling of Cr according to the
article.
Vector-borne diseases occur when the etiologic agent that produces them, virus or
parasite, is transmitted by hematophagous insect species that ingest the
pathogenic microorganisms lodged in the blood of an infected carrier and transmit
them to a sensitive host through active transmission mechanisms or passive.
One of the fundamental mechanisms of active transmission is the bite of an
infected arthropod, in which part of the life cycle of the etiological agent has
already elapsed (4,5). Transmission takes place in delimited physical spaces that
have certain geographical and ecological characteristics, and in which diverse
social factors that favor it are articulated and interact (6). The best known disease
vectors are: mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles, transmitters of malaria or
malaria; the sandflies of the genus Lutzomyia and Phlebotomus, transmitters of
leishmaniasis.

 What is the effect of co-exposure to Cr (VI) and Cr (III)?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identifies the most serious hazardous
waste sites in the nation. The EPA then places these sites on the National
Priorities List (NPL) and designates them for long-term cleanup by the federal
government. Chromium has been found in at least 1,127 of the 1,699 sites
currently in the NPL or that were part of the NPL in the past. Although the total
number of NPL sites in which this substance has been searched is not known, the
number of sites where chromium is found may increase as more sites are
evaluated. This information is important because these sites can be sources of
exposure, and exposure to this substance can harm it.
When a substance is released from a large area, for example from an industrial
plant, or from a container such as a barrel or a bottle, the substance enters the
environment. This release does not always lead to exposure. You can be exposed
to a substance only when it comes in contact with it-when you inhale, eat or drink
the substance, or by skin contact.
There are many factors that determine if exposure to chromium will harm you.
These factors include the dose (the amount), the duration (how long) and how you
came in contact with this substance. You should also consider the other chemicals
to which you are exposed, your age, sex, diet, personal characteristics, lifestyle
and health condition.
 What is the conclusion of the study?

This information is important because it is a substance that could be harmful to

health. The health effects of exposure to any hazardous substance will depend on
the dose, the duration and type of exposure, the presence of other chemicals, as
well as the characteristics and habits of the person.

 Support why this article is relevant to the environmental epidemiology

course.
