3D printing for Architects and Designers

When architects and designers work on projects they usually need some sort of visual aid
to understand how their concepts and ideas are working. A very easy and important aid is
the use of models and maquettes. Throughout the years making these models consisted
on creating them by hand with materials like board and glue. Now with all of the
technology advancement making models by hand is substituted with 3D printing.

3D printing is a concept that has been used four a couple of years now. Being able to 3D
print is something that takes time to learn and it involves a lot of trial and error making it
not the easiest tool. However, developers in Finland have created a new 3D printing
designed specifically for architects and designers. This 3D printer is known to be easy,
intuitive, and fast making it much easier for designers to use when working. The
company responsible for this new technology is called Platonics Ark. The company’s
goal for this new concept is to remove any unnecessary processes which eliminates
wasted time for any designer using their product.

This concept is revolutionary because it enhances how designers work in the built
environment. It contributes to everything from having a clear development of ideas to
time management.
