1. What is the aim of hospitality industry?


The hospitality industry combines various professional areas of human activity:
hotels, catering, recreation and entertainment, organization of conferences, seminars
and exhibitions, sports, museum and exhibition, sightseeing, as well as professional
education in hospitality. The hospitality industry is a complex area of professional
activity for people whose efforts are aimed at meeting the diverse needs of clients
(guests), both tourists and locals.

2. What do hotels sell?


The hotel provides accommodation, meals, various types of entertainment, of course
the security of the client, and various types of amenities.

3. What are categories of hotels according to levels of service? Write their


typical features.

a) One Star (Cat D) - The cheapest hotel with a minimum of services. All rooms of this
hotel are of one type - double. The room has a wardrobe and a special clothes
hanger, two chairs, a mirror, a washbasin and two towels for each chair. Room
cleaning is carried out every seven to eight days, towels are changed every three to
four days. There should be one TV and refrigerator on the floor of the hotel, as well
as at least two baths and one toilet.
b) Two Star (Cat C) -Small budget hotel, also with a minimum of services, but with
mandatory daily housekeeping. In other words - the same schedule as a one-star
hotel, only a toilet and a bathroom in the room.
c) Three Star (Cat B) - Three Star is already a mid-range hotel with a standard suite of
services. The room must have a toilet and a bathroom, a dressing table, a luggage
rack, a TV, a refrigerator.
Bed linen is changed twice a week, towels are changed daily. Only perfume will offer
you soap. On-site amenities include laundry service / dry cleaning, swimming pool,
gym, business center, currency exchange, ticket booking for various modes of
transport, breakfast provided by the hotel.
d) Four Star (Cat A) type - All the same as in a three star hotel, but additionally there
is a minibar, individual air conditioning, telephone, safe, hair dryer, shampoo, bath
gel in each room
Bed linen and towels are changed daily. Laundry, ironing and cleaning services are
provided. Breakfast is served in the room. The hotel has a beauty salon, sports and
wellness center, car rental, TV and music salon, games and conference rooms,
restaurant, sauna, swimming pool and many other entertainment. A doorman will
also meet you at the entrance.
e) Five Star Cat De Luxe-
The highest class among hotel categories. It has a wide range of services, especially
exclusive ones. The guest is given personal attention, which helps to take into
account all his wishes.
