What is Philosophy?
• Philosophy is the combination of two
Greek words
‫״‬Philo ‫״‬and ‫״‬sophia ‫״‬which means ‫״‬love
for wisdom‫״‬
•A philosopher is a person who loves to
know and understand the world.
Obviously the world around us is very
large and complex, so the philosopher
tries to analyze the world critically.

 Metaphysics/Ontology:
Metaphysics is the branch of philosophy
concerned with the
 existence of nature, human beings and the world.
 Arguably, metaphysics is the foundation of
philosophy.

 Epistemology:
 Epistemology is the study of the nature and scope
of knowledge and justified belief.
 By using knowledge we decide that which
knowledge is real which is not real.
It analyzes the nature of knowledge and how it
relates to similar.

 Axiology is usually divided into three main parts.
 • Ethics
 • Aesthetics
 •logic
 Ethics
 Derived from Greek word “Ethos” means
 “Character”
 The study of values in human behavior
The study of character or conduct problems:
 e.g., (1) the rightness and wrongness of actions.
 (2) the kinds of things which are good or
 desirable, and (3) whether actions are
 blameworthy or praiseworthy.
 Aesthetics:

 Aesthetics:
 Aesthetic is used to talk about beauty or art, and
 people's appreciation of beautiful things.
 Aesthetics is a study that associated with the
 nature, art, beauty and good taste.
 It discuss some questions:
 •a) What is beauty?
 •b)Which art should be praised?
 •c)What is the importance of art in human life?
