Statement of the Problem

1. Is cardaba banana peel can be use as an another ingredient in producing or making a floor
wax?
2. Is there a significant difference between banana peel floor wax and commercial floor wax in
terms of:
2.1Shine
2.2 Slip resistance
2.3 Odor
2.4 Expiration
3.How do banana peel has the potential based on the observations source of home floor wax?
4. What is the output of this Investigatory Project?
Hypothesis
The following hypotheses were formulated to this study:
1.There is a significant difference in the feasibility of cardaba banana (Musa acuminata x
Musa balbisiana) peel and a commercialized home floor wax in shining floors.
2. Cardaba banana can’t be an alternative source of making a home floor wax.
3. Cardaba banana can be an alternative source of making a home floor wax.
Significance of the Study
This study would be most useful and significant to the following:
For each Families, this study will help them to make a home made floor wax by themselves. In
this case, they can save money as well as they can save mother earth.
For the Public and Private Schools, who mostly used floor wax to make their classroom floor
shiny. This study will educate them that they can make an alternative floor wax instead of buying
commercial floor wax.
For the Floor Wax Manufacturers, this study will help them to find a substitute ingredient to take
place over the dangerous ingredients that contains in the floor wax that may harm the health of
the people who uses it, the nature and the environment.
For the Future Researchers, this will serve as their source of information and can also be a
reference for data upon making new researches.

BANANA FLOOR WAX

Floor waxing is essential to maintain the shiny gloss of wooden

floors. However, if you find buying ready-made floor wax
prohibitively expensive, it's possible to mix raw wax crystals and
kerosene with banana peels to create a substance suitable for use
polishing your wooden floors. This home-made floor wax will give a
comparable shine and smoothness to that of commercial products,
and the oil in the kerosene counteracts the banana peel's stickiness
to ensure the finished sheen isn't tacky.
STEPS ON HOW TO CREATE A BANANA FLOOR WAX

Step 1
Mix 28 oz. of paraffin and 3 1/2 oz. of polyethylene wax crystals in a large
mixing pot. Melt over a low heat until the crystals are thoroughly melted and
blended.
Step 2
Pour in 6 3/4 pt. of kerosene and stir thoroughly without removing from the
heat.
Step 3
Add the fresh peels from 10 to 15 full-sized bananas. Add the peels one at a
time and stir into the mixture until the peel has thoroughly disappeared
beneath the surface.
Step 4
Stir for three minutes then boil at a low heat for 15 minutes to allow the wax
in the banana peels to thoroughly mix with the oils of the solution. Remove the
pot from heat and strain through a muslin sheet into jars or molds while still
warm. Allow the wax to cool and harden thoroughly before applying it to
floors.
