q Install the timing chain guides number 1 and 2

Tighten the mount bolts to the specified tightening


torque.

STEP 3: 2nd TIMING CHAIN INSTALLATION


(LEFT BANK)
Match mark

q With the crankshaft timing pulley key aligned to the oil jet,
make sure the match mark on idler sprocket number 2
points to the crankshaft.
q Install timing chain guide number 4. Tighten the bolts
to the specified tightening torque.

*Guide cannot be installed after the 2 nd timing chain is in place*

q Make sure that the left bank intake and exhaust


camshaft knock pins align with the match marks
on the cylinder head. Dowel

q Attach the left bank timing chain to the number 2


idler sprocket with the timing chain’s yellow plate
aligned to the match mark on the idler sprocket.

q Install the sprockets to the intake and exhaust
Camshafts by aligning the left bank timing chain
silver plates with the match marks on the intake
and exhaust camshaft sprockets. Install the
sprocket bolts. Hold the hex part of the exhaust Match marks
camshaft with a wrench and tighten the sprocket
bolts to the specified tightening torque.

q With the latch of the number 3 tensioner adjuster


pushed up and the plunger pushed back into the
body, insert a stopper into the set hole.

And stopper
q Install the number 3 tensioner and tighten it’s
mount bolts to the specified tightening torque.
Pull out the stopper to release the tensioner.

Bolt A: 12 N.m (1.2 kg-m, 8.5 lb-ft)
Bolt B: 45 N.m (4.5 kg-m, 32.5 lb-ft) A
Bolt C: 45 N.m (4.5 kg-m, 32.5 lb-ft)

STEP 4: 2nd TIMING CHECK C
q Turn the crankshaft two rotations and
align the crankshaft pulley key to the
oil jet. Confirm that each timing mark
is correctly matched.

IMPORTANT
If you encounter excessive resistance
At any point while turning crankshaft

STOP
Rotate the crankshaft BACK to original Direction
Position and recheck the timing marks Of Rotation

Ensure that the timing Chain mark
marks line up after
making two rotations
of the crankshaft.
The colored plates on
the timing chain will not
line up with their match
marks after you have
rotated the crankshaft.
