Topic: Contrast Between The Congolese English Curriculum and Techniques at

Secondary School

Abstract

People Learn languages for communicative purpose. Educators always look for best methods and
approaches for teaching languages that help to achieve their goal. Therefore, methodology and
materials to be taught are determined in the national Curriculum. That why, Limitation of traditional
approaches caused the birth of Communicative Language Teaching, which is regarded as one of the
most effective approach and suggested in the Congolese English curriculum. however, it is not
approved as an effective practiced formal instruction in education. Although it has been accepted as one
of the best teaching methods by numerous language teachers due to its major focus on developing
learners’ communicative competences. The results at secondary school are not as expected because
many teachers pretend to be using Communicative Language teaching meanwhile, the characteristics
of CLT such as the limited number of students per class, the duration of the teaching period per lesson...
are not taken into account. teachers teach english but students still have trouble to speak english which
means that, the curriculum does not meet the need of students. This study aimed at finding the Contrast
between the congolese english Curriculum and realities at secodary school.
