Homework #1 UCSP

October 22,2019

1) Bayanihan
-We have a nice bond with our neighbors. In barangays and most subdivisions, the
people in the neighborhood know each other, talk each other, help each other, and
protect each other. We help each other to make our fiestas, festivals, etc. lively and
fun to make sure that our visitors will have a great experience.
2) Bahala na (Si Batman)
- This is another habit that destroys the image of Filipinos. Instead of doing
something to make things happen, we tend to just leave the outcome to whatever
that could happen—come what may—we say. For example, instead of studying for
exams, some students may spend more time in computer games and gimmicks,
while leaving their chance of passing the midterms to luck and their favorite phrase is
“Bahala na si Batman”. We could attribute this habit to faith, reasoning out that God
will help us become successful. In the old Filipino saying it is “Nasa Diyos ang awa
nasa tao ang gawa.”.
3) Hospitality
- It’s one of the most popular traits of Filipinos. We are usually friendly and
welcoming to our guests. This Filipino attribute makes the Philippines one of the most
favorite destinations by tourists who want to enjoy the beauty of our nature and the
friendliness of our people, not to mention we can also understand and speak English.
4) Jolliness and Sense of Humor
- The Philippines is a country of smiles. Nothing can take away the humor and
jolliness of many Filipinos, if you can remember not even Typhoon Yolanda which
was the strongest recorded typhoon that made a landfall can take away the Filipinos’
smiles away. Despite of the tragedy, Yolanda survivors can still be seen smiling,
positive and hopeful to rebuild their lives even better. The Filipino humor is evident
everywhere, from comedy films, TV shows, to every Filipino you will meet.
