Treasure Seeker

Treasure seekers are a type of construct designed by Gem Sniffer

the Stonesong Clan to traverse deep caves and tombs
This tiny construct is a mere 1 foot long, with limbs
where clan explorers are unable or unwilling to go. They
extending to a radius of 2 feet. Its fine manipulation
pry their way into tombs, dungeons and keeps,
appendages are fitted with lockpicks. Gem sniffers have
searching tirelessly for gold, gems and artifacts of power
a very small storage capacity but are used for fine or

masters and disgorge themselves.
Unique Design. Treasure seekers are spider-like
constructs, far more delicate and dextrous than one
might expect from a race that crafts in the hard materials
of steel and stone. Each has an insect like body
supported by thin legs. The foremost limbs end in razor
sharp blades while a smaller set of appendages is
equipped for fine manipulation and storing of found
treasure. The construct’s head resembles
a dwarven face and the abdomen hold a storage space,
enchanted extra-dimensional pockets capable of
carrying far more treasure than its volume would
allow. The construct stores objects by passing them
through their ‘mouth’, and retrieving them via the same
method.
Shattered Minds. Powering the mechanical bodies of
these constructs are the shattered remains of a
Stonesong dwarf's soul. Instead of death, a condemned
dwarf might choose to serve - though they aren't given
the details of their assignment. Through a secret ritual
killing, the mind of said dwarf is split into as many
different shards as possible until only the single desire
to gather treasure for the Clan remains. Although most
treasure seekers' minds are so broken down that they
are indistinguishable from an automaton, some retain
faint memories and quirks of the dwarves they were in
life. In rare cases, the mind of the dwarf remains mostly
intact and the treasure seeker goes berserk as its mind
strains against the magics that bind it into a new body.
These wayward constructs can go rogue, attempting to
kill the one that made them or find a way to be whole
again.
A treasure keeper cannot speak but if it could,
listeners would be privy to mad ravings and repetitive,
nonsensical mutterings.
Keep Away From Extra Dimensions. The nature of
the treasure seeker's extra-dimensional storage means
that there are sometimes mishaps when they interact
with other spaces of a similar nature. This makes rogue
treasure seekers especially dangerous, as in their
attempt to "become whole" they might swallow another
treasure seeker and unwittingly cause a tear in space.

Lair Raider
This medium sized construct is around 6 feet in length,
with a limb span of 8 feet when at full extension. Hardier
than its smaller counterparts, and is designed to raid
small occupied lairs where the inhabitants have desired
treasure, but are unwilling to trade. The lair raider has
an area of effect weapon designed to slay or drive off
creatures to allow their valuables to be obtained without
damaging the treasure. Lair Raiders have a secondary
purpose of taking or retrieving prisoners within its
storage space.

VARIANT LAIR CLEARING ABILITIES

Lair raiders can be fitted with varying emitters to clear
lairs based on the nature of the lair being cleared out.
Refitting the construct takes 24 hours. These variations
replace the Sonic Scream ability:

Psychic Scream (Recharge 5-6). The construct emits a

psychic scream. Each creature in a 30 foot cone, must
succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or suffer 18
(4d8) psychic damage and lose its reaction until the end
of their next turn. A successful save halves the damage
and negates the additional effect.

Necrotic Wave (Recharge 5-6). The construct emits a

necrotic wave. Each creature in a 30 foot cone, must
succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or suffer
18 (4d8) necrotic damage and have its speed reduced
by 10 until the end of their next turn. A successful save
halves the damage and negates the additional effect.

Fear Emanation (Recharge 6). The construct emits a

wave of terror. Each creature in a 30 foot cone, must
succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or become
frightened for 1 minute.
While frightened by this effect, a creature must take
the Dash action and move away from the construct by
the safest available route on each of its turns. If there is
no safe path, the creature takes the Dodge action
instead. If the creature ends its turn in a location where
it can’t see the construct, the creature can make another
Wisdom saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a
success.

Hoard Plunderer
This large construct is 9 feet in length, with a limb
extension of 12 feet. It is the first of its kind to be armed
and armoured for significant combat, and is designed to
clear out large enclaves of significant size,
sophistication and resistance. It also has an energy
beam capable of breaking through the toughest doors
and vaults.

Dragonbane Reaver
This construct is 15 feet long with an 18 foot limb
extension, and as the name suggests is designed to raid
dragon lairs for their fabled riches. Despite their design
specifications Dragonbane reavers fail more often than
succeed, but those few victorious forays have returned
such vast wealth that the Stonesong have persisted in
their construction.
