1. Scope of Work:
Work
In accordance with the requirements of the contract, the scope of this Method Statement provides
the control sequence of construction and methodology that will be used for the Installation of Blast
Resistant Shelter at KNPC MINA
MINA AL AHMADI (MAA) Refinery. It further provides the means for
inspecting and testing the installations once the activities are completed.
The various sections define the activities, which must be applied to control the areas of work within
the applicable contract
contract documents, specifications and work instructions.
The purpose of this method statement is to outline the general requirements which should be taken
into consideration for this activity.

Responsible for controlling the project's entire activities & for the overall coordination with the
Consultant.
Ensure that adequate facilities, resources and equipment are provided to the work to avoid injury,
health impairment or damage & to ensure providing quality works within the planned timescale.
The Project Manager will be responsible for allocating the right resources for the planning and
execution of all the activities.

6. Work Process:
Supervision
All the persons involved in the job will be explained about the safety aspects and requirements on
the job.
Proper work plan will be made for the job.
All work supervision will be managed by our competent Engineer/supervisor who will be
responsible for entire operation

The crane shall have valid third party certificate and safety certificate after inspection by KNPC

The rigger and the operator shall be trained and certified by the approved third party agency.
All lifting tools and tackles used shall be inspected and certified by third party agency.
Obtain necessary work permits prior to commencement of the job.
Make prior visit to confirm the back filling/compaction of the area as discussed.
The area near to the lift will be inspected for access / positioning of the crane and made sure it is
as per the requirement before getting the equipment on site.
Mark the approximate location of the crane as per the working radi
radius.
Crane will be driven inside area and positioned exactly over the marked area as stated earlier and
mark the out rigger positions.
Rig up the crane on steel pads.
Slowly reverse the trailers carrying counter weights near the cran
cranee and install them on th
the crane.
Change the hook block to required part lines for the lift.
Now the crane is ready for the safety inspection / final lift

Access route to drive and reach the crane on working area to be verified.
Space available at planned operating position to be verified.
Approved rigging plan and rigging check list shall be available at site based on type of lifts (Critical/
Non Critical). Refer page # 23 in the same document for rigging plan of operating shelter no. 3.
Lifting activities shall be stopped in case of adverse climatic condition or insufficient illumination
and visibility.

Install GRP tank, Chemical filtration unit & Inertia filter by fork lift.
Fix the lifeline brackets (4 no’s) in the lifting lug by bolting and install the lifeline to access in the
roof area to fix the connection angle bolts and rain shade fittings.

The route will be surveyed for any obstruction prior to shifting of the modules. Ensure the boom swing
area is free from any obstruction, in case of removal of existing facility

The route map for the rest of the modules will be submitted prior to shifting.
All plant and equipment required for lifting operations shall be inspected and approved by plant
inspector (if applicable) prior to use on the project. All certificates for equipment and tools shall be
maintained and a copy will be present at site.

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF PERMIT
18 Close the permit by completing Section-6 of original and field operator copy. Keep in file for 1 month.
19 All tools and equipment shall be secured and personnel protected from falling objects.
20 Do not anchor to or suspend loads on process piping.
21 Do not use scaffolds without valid green scaffold tag.
22 Do not use wooden planks in running units.
23 Any exemption shall be with prior approval of KNPC Safety.
1 When using gas mask (Chemical cartridge) in open area, Escape set or SCBA must be available for emergency.
2 In dangerous (IDLH) atmospheres, use airline mask (BA) with escape cylinder and attendant having BA.
3 Always wear BA when disconnecting flanges or opening man ways in lines/eqpt. containing H2S.
4 Radiographers must wear film badges and dosimeters. Provide radiation survey meter and barricade 0.25
millirems/hr level area with warning signs.

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF PERMIT
1 Display the permit at work site with associated authorisations.
2 Separate permits are required for different Maintenance crafts & jobs.
3 Only authorised personnel holding valid "Work Permit Issuer/Executor" card can sign permit.
4 Only field operators/contractors with work "permit awareness training" can sign respective column.
5 Only authorised gas testers holding valid certification for gas test can sign gas test.
6 Issuer may authorize work, only if the gas tests results are within the permissible range.
7 Mention Clear description of the work. Issuer or executor may fill Section-1.
8 Issuer must fill or tick all relevant items from Sections 2 to 4. Specify additional requirements under remarks. Inform
critical work and road closures to ECCC. (ECCC will inform Safety)
9 Operation's Issuer is responsible for safe handing over of equipment to Maintenance.
10 Field operator must check site and sign the permit before start of the work.
11 Executor must not start work before getting permit or on an incomplete work permit.
12 Executor must provide adequate supervision and must be always present during critical work.
13 Executor must ensure providing all recommended protective before starting work and compliance to all permit
conditions. He must ensure his people are wearing appropriate PPE.
