SCHOOL NURSE FUNCTIONS

 Promote and protect the optimal health status of school-age children.


 Assist the physician and dentist during their scheduled visits.
 Conduct daily dispensary treatment.
 Obtain students’ health history and provide health assessments.
 Screen and evaluate findings of deficit in vision, hearing, growth, etc.
 Provide ongoing health counseling with students, parents, and school personnel.
 Utilize existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students.
 Maintain, evaluate and interpret cumulative health data to accommodate
individual needs of students.
 Plan and implement school health management protocols.
 Develop procedures and provide emergency nursing management for minor
injuries/illnesses.
 Provide health education and anticipatory guidance through faculty/parent seminars.
 Serve as a resource person to the school staff members in health
instruction and health promotion.
 Coordinate school and community health activities and serve as a liaison
health professional between the home, school and community.
 Provide consultation in the formation of health policies, goals and objectives for the
school.

SCHOOL COUNSELOR FUNCTIONS

 Maintain and update the students’ individual records.


 Prepare and implement orientation programs.
 Support the social, emotional and behavioral needs of children in collaboration with
parents, teachers, and other related professionals.
 Implement the Grade Level Homeroom Guidance Modules and services in coordination
with the class advisers and make sure that these are aligned with the overall Guidance
Program.
 Consolidate the homeroom guidance modules for all grade levels regularly based on the
needs and concerns of the students.
 Prepare and control the annual budget of the Office of the Student Services.
 Conduct parent presentations and workshops on a wide array of educational and
developmental issues designed to help parents become familiar with special topics of
interest.
 Assist in administering group tests and in conducting test interpretation sessions to
students and parents.
 Attend program meetings and activities, convocations, general faculty meetings,
masses, faculty retreats, community spiritual hour and serves in committee work.
 Prepare Annual Guidance Report.
 Perform any other such duties as may be required by the position in accordance with the
instructions and guidelines of the Board of Trustees.
