Call for Applications to join the Bar Course, 2020/2021 Academic Year (1st intake)

The Academic Registrar Law Development Centre invites applications for


admission to the Bar Course, 2020/2021 academic year (1 st intake). The
Bar Course shall be conducted at our three campuses in Kampala, Lira and
Mbarara through distance and/or physical learning.

Eligibility
To be eligible for admission to the Bar Course, the applicant should be:
a) A holder of a degree in law granted by a University in Uganda whose law
programme has been accredited by the Law Council.
i. This applies to Ugandan and non-Ugandan citizens.
ii. The degree must have been obtained from a university or institution of
higher education duly licensed or chartered under the laws of Uganda
and accredited by the Law Council.
b) A citizen of Uganda who is a holder of a degree in law obtained from a
University or institution in a foreign country operating the common law system
and recognized by the Law Council of Uganda. The applicant must obtain prior
clearance in writing from the Law Council.
c) A former Bar Course student intending to repeat the entire Bar Course or
subject(s) as provided for by the applicable Rules for Passing the Bar Course.

How to apply
1. Interested applicants may apply online via the link:
https://admissions.ldc.ac.ug/. The link will prompt you to fill in the required
information and make payment online before submission of the application.
2. Applicants may download the application form via LDC website
(www.ldc.ac.ug) and submit the filled form at the LDC reception.
3. Applicants may pick an application form from LDC reception, fill and return it.
The application fee is UGX 200,000= excluding bank charges.

Note
1. Applicants who were admitted during the Academic Year 2019/20 admissions
process and who admission letters were issued for Academic Year 2020/21
need not reapply.
2. Applicants who had submitted to the Academic Registrar applications for
admission to Academic Year 2020/21 before the issuance of this
advertisement need not reapply.
3. The National Council for Higher Education (NHCE) has approved the LDC Bar
Course for open, distance and e-learning. The Bar Course may be conducted
online or with a blend of both online and physical learning in accordance with
the guidelines issued by the NCHE and the Rules for Passing the Bar Course.
ONLY APPLICANTS WILLING AND ABLE TO UNDERTAKE ONLINE DISTANCE
LEARNING SHOULD APPLY FOR ADMISSION.
4. An applicant admitted to the Bar Course may be posted to any LDC campus.
5. Current undergraduate students who have not yet completed their degree
programmes are ineligible to apply for admission to this 1st intake.

Applications should be submitted not later than Friday 28 August, 2020.
