Course Syllabus for Students’ Reference

Basic Eleven (B11)

Course name: Basic Eleven


Course code: B11

1. Course description:
Basic Eleven is a course that introduces new language forms such as expressions for agreement,
time clauses, adverbs of manner, the past continuous, the present perfect, and the structure verb
+ infinitive. All this within the frame of new themes related to celebrations, storytelling, and work.

The course represents 297 hours of in-class instruction and the topics are:

 Welcome Unit:
This unit includes grammar and vocabulary from the previous course (Basic 10), a Writing task
and a Learning with Others section.
 Unit 7: Celebrations
This unit will teach you how to describe celebrations (festivals and holidays) and to make
invitations.
 Unit 8: Storytelling
This unit will teach you how to tell a story.
 Unit 9: Work
This unit will teach you how to talk about jobs and their requirements.

2. General Course Goals:


By the end of the course, you will be able to:

1. Describe different parties, festivals, and holidays. 4. Describe a job and practice a job interview.
2. Make an invitation and accept or refuse it. 5. Talk about how long something has happened.
3. Describe a story and use transitions to keep it going.

5. Evaluation Criteria:
The evaluation system is based on three components as follows:

C. Autonomous learning project (ALP) 4 points 20%
TOTAL 20 points 100%

 The minimum passing grade for the level is 14 points.
