    Felix Hoffmann.

    Felix Hoffmann was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany in 1868, the son of an


    industrialist.

    His work in the pharmacy field fascinated him so much that he decided to expand
    his knowledge in this field by studying chemistry.

    In 1897, when he was twenty-nine, he described a brief laboratory protocol for


    synthesizing acetylsalicylic acid.

    Combining salicylic acid with acetic acid, he managed to create ASA in a


    chemically pure and stable form.

    When he started working on the synthesis of the drug, he was highly motivated
    personally since his father suffered from arthritis.
