PROFILE

Born on July 16, 1961, Shri Vinit Kumar Jayaswal secured his B Tech
Degree in Civil Engineering from the Institute of Technology, BHU (now
IIT-BHU) in the year 1981 and joined Central Engineering Service (Civil),
CPWD as Assistant Executive Engineer in June 1983 through UPSC
Engineering Services Examination 1981. He also holds Law Degree from
Delhi University.

He assumed the office of Director General, CPWD on 01st June, 2020.


As Director General, CPWD, he is responsible to the Ministry of Housing
and Urban Affairs for efficient administration and overall professional
control of public works within the jurisdiction of CPWD.
During his illustrious career of 37 years in different capacities in CPWD
from Assistant Executive Engineer to Special Director General, he had
vast and varied experience in the fields of structural design, planning and
construction of works, project management, maintenance of prestigious
buildings, vigilance, administration, e-governance, arbitration and legal
matters. During this period, he served at Allahabad, Bengaluru, Chennai,
Delhi, Guwahati and Kolkata.

The projects handled by him include: planning and designing of buildings


of various organizations in plain and hilly areas; construction and
maintenance of border roads, bridges and fencing along Indo-
Bangladesh Border; maintenance of Vidhan Sabha, Raj Niwas, Tis
Hazari District Courts, Colleges and Hospitals in Delhi; maintenance of
buildings throughout the country under the Ministry of Environment,
Forest and Climate Change; Indira Paryavaran Bhawan in New Delhi;
high rise buildings with tunnel from technology at Chennai; and
construction of institutional buildings for KVS, NVS, NITs, IITs and IIMs.
He was also associated with execution of PMSSY projects at Agartala,
Bhagalpur and Malda. The important works handled by him while serving
at Guwahati and Kolkata include Indian Institute of Management at
Shillong, Film and Television Institute at Itanagar, GSI and Canara Bank
buildings at Kolkata, Corporate Bhawan for the Ministry of Corporate
Affairs, IIITs at Ranchi, Bhagalpur, and Kalyani, and students hostels for
IIT at Kharagpur.

His special interests include project management, dispute management,


legal aspects of contract management and sustainable development.
