INA201 INDUSTRIAL NETWORK ARCHITECTURE: FOUNDATION

CELL/AREA ZONE PART 1 COURSE Introduction:

Welcome to the Industrial IP Advantage Cell/Area zone Part 1 course

introduction eLearning module. This module will take you approximately 20
minutes to complete. At the end, you will take an assessment to see how
much you have learned.

In this module, you will explore four topics: module navigation,

cell/area zone overview, network architecture overview, and EtherNet/lP
overview.

Industrial Operations:
Throughout the western world, there is a renaissance in industrial
operations, with major governments like the USA and Germany investing in
manufacturing and processing advancements through initiatives like
industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing.

These initiatives require plant floor data to be spread through the

enterprise and through the value chain - integration of workers and
executives, manufacturers, plant operators, suppliers and distribution.

At the same time, the industrial automation industry is going through a

technology shift with Ethernet and Internet Protocol becoming the most
important digital communications technologies on the plant floor.

The Internet of Things movement that is transforming our homes and

offices is starting to transform industrial systems, which are becoming
an Industrial Internet of Things.

Critical Networking:
To get the most out of these transitions, Information Technology skills
must be deployed on the plant floor. IT and OT professionals must
collaborate in plant floor deployments and new hybrid job roles must
emerge.
This course will explain the critical networking requirements for
Industrial Automation and Control Systems in the language of IT and
Internet Protocol. It will give an IT professional the skills required to
establish credibility with Operational Technology teams and transfer
their experience of enterprise network convergence and ubiquitous use of
Internet Protocol into manufacturing applications.

Operational Technology have historically owned all of the production

systems and production networks, either century islands of automation to
21 st century plant-wide information centric architectures and give them
the necessary skills to collaborate with IT and enable secure flow of
information throughout the enterprise and beyond.

Each module in this series is separated by topics to help break up the

learning. The first topic of this module will review module elements, in
addition to the navigational buttons and their functions.

Solutions for industrial applications:

Specifically, at the end of this module, you will be able to identify
elements of each module that will help you navigate through course
modules. Also, you will be able to identify the significance of this
course and how it will impact your workforce.

But first lees start with a short video, sharing our vision for the plant
of the future.

These initiatives require plant floor data to be spread through the

enterprise and through the value chain - integration of workers and
executives, manufacturers, plant operators, suppliers and distribution.
