1. INTRODUCTION

The National Water Company (Hereafter NWC Saudi), a Saudi joint stock company fully
owned by the government (namely the Public Investment Fund), was established to provide
water and wastewater treatment services in accordance with the latest international standards.
This is achieved by the concerted efforts of national cadres in partnership with carefully
selected international operators through foreign PPP.NWC specializes in providing the highest
quality drinking water, ensuring the presence of water and wastewater connections in all
households, preserving natural water resources and the environment, using the Treated Sewage
Effluent (TSE) with maximum efficiency, and training qualified Saudi employees in
accordance with the latest international standards.
Adapt Natural Power company (Hereafter ANP) provides onsite solar solutions for industrial,
commercial and residential customers. ANP is dedicated to discovering the creative solutions
that provide optimistic benefits to the customers to meet their rooftop/onsite solar power
requirement with in house engineering-design-procurement installation and commission
capabilities.

2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
To reduce the Green House Gas Emissions (Carbon Footprint) and electrical energy
consumption of Saudi electricity company (SEC), NWC Saudi is looking for a solar power
project to be installed on the ground near to water pump feeding substation building. Based on
the inputs and discussions with NWC Saudi, the solar rooftop power capacity of 338.1 kWp
can be installed on the ground near to substation.
The proposed plant is estimated to produce 600000 (sixty hundred thousand) Units (kWh)
per Annum. Payback of the system is approximately 14 years*. After payback, NWC Saudi
can avail the benefit of power at negligible cost (maintenance cost only). This project will
also help the client to reduce carbon emission by 600 (six hundred) tonnes per annum and
approx. 13900(Thirteen Thousand nine hundred) tonnes for the life of the system.

Page | 3
Following is the proposed layout of the plant.

For detailed layout of solar Plant, refer to ANNEXURE III.

*The payback period has been calculated by taking 0.18 SAR per Unit(kWh) tariff and will reduce if
there is increase in electricity tariff in future.

3. BENEFITS OF ON SITE SOLAR POWER

➢ Significant saving over the lifetime from the electricity cost.

➢ Greenpower which reduces carbon footprint.
➢ Can be injected directly into existing MV panel without any changes to the existing
system.
➢ Hassle-free operation & maintenance.

5. PROPOSED SOLAR PV SYSTEM

Adapt natural Power company will install a grid-tied solar power generation system using
ground mounted structure. Figure shows the schematic diagram of a typical grid-tied solar
system.

Sunlight captured by solar panels is converted into DC electricity. This DC Power is then
Page | 5
converted into AC power by means of grid tie inverters. This AC power is then finally
injected into existing MV electrical panel.

5.1.System Components
1. PV modules

PV modules are collections of PV cells that convert sunlight to electricity. These panels will
be mounted on module mounting structure and will be electrically connected to the bank of
inverters by means of UV resistance DC cable.
Tier-1 Quality, high efficiency>16%, and high wattage solar panels will be used in the
system. Panels are tested in accordance with IEC61215, IEC61730, TUV and UL1703
certified.
2. Grid Tie Inverters

The grid tie inverters in a solar PV power plant will converts the DC power generated by the
PV module in to suitable AC power. They have anti islanding protection thus will automates
the start-up and shut down functions as per the availability of the grid supply. By incorporating
advanced maximum power point tracking technology, it maximizes the energy harvested for
PV modules.
3. Module mounting structure

The ground mounted structure which will made up from hot dipped galvanized iron will be
used to support the Solar PV modules. The installation of structure will be done by digging the
holes in the ground and filling it by concrete of suitable grade. The Structure is designed to
withstand the wind speed as per IS875 Part 3 Code.
4. Injection of power in existing MV Panel

After analyzing an electrical Single line diagram received from the NWC Saudi, the solar
power injection will be in the existing LT panel in the substation building. The breaker at the
point of solar power injection will be provided by the NWC Saudi. The PV system will work

Page | 6
parallelly with the SEC supply and will cater to the load as per the generated power to reduce
overall SEC electricity consumption.

5. Monitoring system

A plant monitoring system will be installed which will enable permanent system monitoring
and performance evaluation. We will collect the electrical data on site via our PV monitoring
system. These data will be available for remote diagnosis. Also, we will make these data
available online to NWC Saudi.
6. PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION & SCHEDULE

Various activities under the project development and implementation are listed below (in
no particular order):
Detailed Site survey and detailed engineering design
